Weekend Update

A pretty gold lame skirt from J.Crew, now $50 (!!), a cashmere blend cable knit cardigan from Theory, now 70% off, a great oversized stripe shirt from Frame, now 40% off, cool rubber/leather boots from Loewe, now $390, and a really cool knit sweater from Tibi, now $255.

1. This week, sharing this nylon bag, from Uniqlo.

I’m sharing these because I love my Row Banana bag quite a bit and want one in nylon but really can’t do it after already having the leather. I’m pretty sure this is Uniqlo’s “dupe” although I cannot blame Uniqlo because I basically view the Row as Uniqlo but 100000x the price. And I like this color! I’ll probably order, in either the green or navy.

2. Sharing this piece, via The Cut, on what it’s like approaching middle age. I’m in this place! I liked the piece but wish it had kind of gone further, longer.

3. I loved (loved!!) this piece, via the NYT, about 10 hours at Bergdorf Goodman. There’s so many interesting tidbits about the store in it. I’m going to read it a gain.

3. I thought this was a really interesting article, via the Guardian UK, about the rise of the luxury exhibition. I would go and see one of these if I were walking by but there’s something a little off, isn’t there? Or maybe there isn’t. I don’t know.

5. This week, I read The Silence of the Girls, by Pat Barker.

This was good! It is Barker’s take of the Iliad, seen mostly through the eyes of Briseis. I know it’s inevitably compared with the work of Madeline Miller, especially The Song of Achilles, but I think it stands on its own. It’s a little more disjointed I think – less of a sweeping plot. But I mean, it’s the Iliad, so really there should be enough. If you’ve read Miller’s work and are looking for more, I recommend The Silence of the Girls.
