Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Designer items ahoy! A great bootie from Jimmy Choo, now 40% off, the Max Mara coat that Nancy Pelosi wore, in a lovely cream color, now 30% off, Golden Goose Superstars, now 50% off, a great mini jade green silk wrap dress from Saloni, now 40% off (also love this longer version), and a pretty snake print skirt from Nanushka, now 30% off.

1. As mentioned above – designer sale season has started!

Don’t you feel like it’s earlier this year? Or maybe I feel that every year. But I definitely remember a few years back, waiting until the morning after Thanksgiving to shop. Now the designer stuff just appears, marked down, and with little fanfare…oh retail, I hope you are doing okay. I like this classic pair of Jimmy Choos. I feel they look more modern, and all pumps need a little updating sometimes. Also, this Acne sweater.

Classic, and the brown/moss neutral of the season. I like the zip neck. I like preppy looking sweaters.

2. So recently I’d been seeing Bottega bags everywhere. To the point where I kind of really wanted one (the Cassette mostly). In an effort to research if all the bags I was seeing were gifted, I found this Fashionista article. I’m still back and forth on if its actually on my wish list…what do you think?

PS: An anonymous source has said confirmed, they are gifted!

3. Sharing this interesting piece, via The New Yorker, about the “sustainable” sweater community on Instagram.

4. Another great NY Times piece, about being “over” fashion. How do you feel? I’m definitely “out of date” on trends but don’t know if that’s just because I’ve been in toddler land these last years. I do like the “modest” trend though. Not because I’m necessarily modest but I just like to be comfortable.

5. This week, I read Anything Is Possible, by Elizabeth Strout.

I’m on a Strout kick. I’ve been reading a bunch of her books in a row. Which is deflating for a writer’s ego because she is just so good and delicate and expert with her story and prose. Ugh!! Anything Is Possible is actually part two of what is called the Amgash series – you can start with the first, I Am Lucy Barton, but actually I loved the second book more, and you don’t need Lucy Barton to understand it (though it does add depth). A string of linked stories, all about various residents in a small town – read this if you’ve liked anything that Strout has written, she really is a treasure. I highly recommend Anything Is Possible.

I loved the Bottega pouch from the moment I saw it. It’s one of those things that brings me back to the last time large clutches were in style (90s or aughts, I can’t remember). But I loved it then and I love it now. I bought an intrecciato one to give it the touch of classic Bottega.

I had read the article about being “over” fashion and found it very interesting. Frankly, I thought the women shown in the article looked quite fashionable. Just maybe not into some of the “trends”.

The pouch and the padded cassette are my favorites. I love the pouch you got!

I thought they were gifted without a research. Too many people with the style that no Bottega esthetically fit in were showing them…
