Weekend Update

Sale PSA: An oversized striped cashmere wrap from J.Crew, now under $70 with code SHOPNOW, a cozy pullover from Madewell, now 60% off, and very cute adidas 7/8 leggings, now just $36.

1. This week, sharing this excellent cotton pullover from Everlane.

I have been looking for a pullover EXACTLY like this for awhile. Cotton (organic cotton here!), with a deep zip, slightly cropped, soft inside. So I was so, so happy to see this! I got the gray and will update how it is. I don’t know if I will be wearing it to the “track” but I really need a slightly lighter, machine washable sweater that I can wear with leggings.

2. Posting this terrible, terrible review for the musician Sia’s directorial debut, “Music,” via Indiewire. I don’t always like to read bad reviews…as someone who “creates” it’s easy to imagine everything an artist has put into their work. But it seems like this movie is almost universally being panned, and for some legitimate reasons.

3. Sharing piece, via the NY Times, about how Rihanna (at least her high end fashion line) and LVMH are on a break.

4. In the midst of the general pandemic and all the other craziness going on, I have neglected to stay on top of my Housewives news. So I found this piece, via The Daily Beast, about the latest on Erika Girardi’s divorce fascinating. Where is the new RHOBH season? I truly need it RIGHT NOW!

5. This week I re-read an old favorite: The Wind Up Bird Chronicles, by Haruki Murakami.

Yes, I know this is kind of like recommending The Corrections or some other huge famous literary seller. But this is what I read last week and phew – I really forgot how wonderful this book is! How utterly absorbing as a reader and inspirational as a writer. If you’re looking to escape into some fantastic language and a more dreamy world (though punctuated by acts of sharp violence) I highly recommend The Wind Up Bird Chronicles.

Haruki Murakami is one of my favourite writers. I’m always seeking out Japanese authors, as I find their perspective to be so fascinating. Lots of jewels to be found!

If there’s a housewife I didn’t expect to be in Erika’s predicament, it’s Erika herself!

If you like the Everlane pullover but want better fabric try the Varley vine pullover. Top 5 purchase of 2020. Can’t stop wearing.

Not fleece. Same, fabric as the outside. A thicker ottoman rib, tiny bit plush. A little bit of stretch.
