Weekend Update

Sale PSA: A great fuzzy fleece crewneck from Zella, now just $20, a simple polo from Everlane, now $14, black cropped pants from Nike, now 40% off, and a great plaid maxi dress from Theory, now $103.

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR! What are you all doing to celebrate? Just a tip for my Bay Area friends – Din Tai Fung stopped taking online orders around ~4 PM yesterday due to high demand! So plan appropriately.

1. Today, sharing my latest athleisure find, these waffle pants from J.Crew.

It’s funny: the styling of these I think is supposed to convince me that i can wear them outside. I don’t think it succeeds in that, but it does make me want the pants. I love love waffle knits and the wide legged makes it an easier transition to spring (more airy looking) – I was waiting for a bigger discount but may just jump.

PS: I think these wide legged cashmere pants look so awesome but the price keeps me away and also I worry about J.Crew’s “featherweight” cashmere, wish I’d worry would get holes.

2. Sharing this interesting story, via Medium, about the meltdown of what was once one of the country’s “hottest” ice cream brands.

3. This article is worth it if only for the snarky comments from various Art Insiders, via the NY Times: The Surprising Ascent of Kaws. I do admit that I only know of KAWS because of his Uniqlo collaborations, ha.

4. A long but crazy piece, via The Cut, about the world’s worst roommate (seriously!).

5. This week, I read A Tale For The Time Being, by Ruth Ozeki.

Wow. I really loved this book! One of my favorites of the year so far for sure. A writer in Canada finds a diary washed ashore…written by a Japanese schoolgirl…and it goes from there. I’d heard about this book for a long time but just never got around…stayed up late this entire week reading this. If you’re looking for a fantastic mystery (that doesn’t tie up super neatly and yet is still satisfying) AND some incredible writing, I highly recommend A Tale For The Time Being.
