Weekend Update

Sale PSA: A useful waterproof jacket from Barbour, now 25% off, a pretty midi dress from Everlane, now $74, and a cool layered skirt from Tibi, now $166 (with the extra 40% off at checkout)

1. This week, sharing this great blazer jacket in chino from J.Crew, now 40% off.

I like this! I am always in perpetual search of the perfect casual blazer. I have a few from Tibi which I like, but this is a lot less and I like the color and gold buttons (reminds me of this more pricey one I’ve been eyeing). Worth a try on sale (especially as it isn’t final sale).

2. I really enjoyed this article, via The Washington Post – Whatever Happened To Having Taste? Would love to hear all your thoughts on it! (By the way, I am really enjoying this season of RHONY).

3. An interesting piece, via the NYT, about how children are reviving their family’s legacy brands.

4. A fun little piece, via The Cut, on how to flirt.

5. This week, I read Commonwealth, by Ann Patchett.

I think I’d read this before…but maybe not all the way through? Anyway, I loved it. I have been craving a great literary saga like this – where the writing is so wonderful but so is the story, and you just want to keep reading. Love, love love. Patchett is a treasure. If you’re looking for a literary read, I highly recommend Commonwealth.

Kat, if you haven’t already read “The Dutch House,” you need to. It is by far the best of Ann Patchett’s books, in my opinion. It far surpasses her most recent bestseller, Tom Lake. I’ve read all of her books and the latest is the most lackluster.

Loved The Dutch House! I’m sad to hear about Tom Lake, it is on my list! I’m also a huge Patchett fan.

Absolutely enjoyed the “taste” article. Too much “fashion” I see involves piling on oodles of easily identifiable designer items with no rhyme or reason. No unique point of view whatsoever and a cacophony for the eyes!
