Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Fun Air Max sneakers in Atomic Green, now $78, a great lime cashmere sweater from Everlane, now $135, and a cropped poplin shirt from J.Crew, now 40% off.

1. This week, sharing these great silver slides, from Fendi.

I love these shoes! As always, as always, my quibble is on the price – WHY? They’re in line with other designer shoes but look at those little strips of leather…but they are so pretty. If they go on discount I will buy.

2. I really enjoyed this piece, via the NYT, about the new design direction at Tory Burch. I haven’t looked at the brand for a while but will definitely do so now. I do like their sportswear.

3. Thank you to Abby, for sharing this fun piece via T&C, on the low key rich bitch wardrobe. Ha!

4. A really fun interview with Kelly Cutrone, via Interview Magazine. I always like these sort of blunt personalities. We need more of them.

5. This week, I read The Razor’s Edge, by Somerset Maugham.

I was in the mood for a classic and so chose this…and I loved it, I mean it’s a classic for a reason. It’s an interesting plot structure too, with Maugham coming in and out as he tells the story of Larry Darrell, who is searching for the meaning of his life. I’m not describing it properly or with the credit due. All the characters were great. Writing was great. If you’re in the mood for literary fiction, I highly recommend The Razor’s Edge.

There was a film made of “The Razor’s Edge” starring Gene Tierney and Tyrone Power. Excellent, excellent film. The clothing, jewelry, and scenes of Paris are lovely. Kat, if you haven’t read “Of Human Bondage” before, you must. Maugham’s best work, in my opinion. There were also three film versions of it, fyi!

The movie version of “The Razor’s Edge” I remember is with Bill Murray, but I never got around to reading the book. Will rectify that and add “Of Human Bondage” as well.
Thanks for the T&C article link. I have the scarf in the photo, can’t wait to read what that means. 😉
