Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Padded chain sandals from JW Anderson, now under $350, black Madewell jeans, now 40% off, Balenciaga sandals, now $375, and an alpaca polo from Everlane, now 50% off.

Hi! Happy Thanksgiving week for those celebrating! And I hope everyone is having a nice time with loved ones. I’m not doing a big Black Friday post this year though I’ll probably share some holiday wishlist items. I have placed a few sale orders but not too much. I am trying to have a more streamlined shopping season and will update later how that goes!

1. This week, sharing this blazer from The Frankie Shop (now 40% off!)

I’ve added a few oversized blazers this year and have to say I really like them! I have long shied away from some Frankie Shop styles because they are synthetic however I have realized that buying a single synthetic that I’ll use a lot is better than buying multiple natural fiber versions. I LOVE this sort of dropped shoulder blazer and I think this is a great price for a classic color.

2. I thought this piece about Giorgia Meloni’s style, via the NYTimes, was very interesting. Would love to hear thoughts from Italian readers!

3. Once in a while Vogue will post one of these “what’s in my bag videos” that feels less like an infomercial – this was one I liked (well plus I just like her), about what’s in Sienna Miller’s handbag.

4. Also, sharing an interesting WSJ piece on permanent jewelry. Have any of you done this?

5. This week, I read Verity by Colleen Hoover.

This is my first Hoover! I’ve tried to read her before but couldn’t get into it. But I tried again and finished this one in a few days so yes…I understand the hype. Is it high literature, no, but Hoover doesn’t claim to be. Also, just to be snarky, but I think a lot of “high lit” could learn something about plotting from Hoover. Warning: some of the scenes are QUITE explicit. (or maybe I’m just a prude, ha). If you’re looking for a fast paced thriller and haven’t already read a Hoover, I recommend Verity at least to try her out!

I have 3 “permanent” bracelets that I absolutely love! One is a thin bangle and the other two are thin chains from Catbird. One I had to have cut off for surgery but Catbird had a pop-up in LA and I was able to easily get it re-soldered on. I’m the type of person who NEVER takes off jewelry (everything I wear is 24/7 jewelry) so permanent jewelry makes sense to me. I have a few other bracelets that I always wear that are removable but I never take them off anyways! The Catbird bracelets are so light and delicate and I love catching a glimpse of them when I look at my wrist!

The WSJ article on jewelry is…very odd. Love bracelets are insanely common and have been popular since the 1970s, and they come off with the included screwdriver; the woman featured who never removes hers even for surgery just seems dim, or maybe lazy?
The Catbird pieces are just thin chains with or without stones and if needed they can literally be cut with good scissors (I did a stack from them once and eventually tired of it). None of this stuff is remotely permanent.

I was too lazy to make a free WSJ account but I have an Atelier VM permanent gold bracelet that I got while in Italy for the first time and a YG love bracelet.

For the most part I love jewelry that I don’t have to worry about and can really live in. That’s the height of luxury for me. Of course I have pieces that I love just as much that I take off but I think there is something nice about jewelry that really lives with you.

I’m pregnant with my first child so I’m a little worried I’ll swell up and need to cut the permanent one off but in the end I suppose that’s just part of life, too 🙂

Permanent jewelry gives me such anxiety. After having recent surgery I can’t imagine trying to go into the operating room with this, nor can I imagine being the doctor that potentially has to deal with it. Yikes!
