1. This week, sharing this horsebit bag from Gucci.
I’m not normally a big Gucci logo person (I like all their horsebit stuff though!) but something about this bag I thought was quite nice. I think it’s the navy and the textured leather, etc. A very nice combination and a very useful looking bag.
2. I liked this feature, via the WSJ, on Isabel Marant, who is opening her latest store. Loved reading about her process and philosophy.
3. I thought this piece, via Rolling Stone, on “dupe” culture was interesting.
4. What do we all think about this piece, via the NYT, about deliberately unbuttoned jeans? I’m too old (or too fuddy duddy) to do this but at the very least it sounds comfortable!
5. This week I read The Last White Man, by Mohsin Hamid.
Hamid is one of my favorite authors so I was really looking forward to this. I love the idea of people waking up with different colored skin – or at least in the hands of someone like Hamid who writes so interestingly about race. I will say that I found parts of this difficult – the writing style is different than his last books in that there’s a lot of run on sentences…it’s kind of dream like. It’s a shorter book, and had it been longer, I would have had some trouble getting through it. I still really liked this too. If you are a fan of Hamid’s other work, I’d recommend you check out The Last White Man.
