Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Cool ribbed/slit pants from Zella, now $50, a half zip track pullover from Everlane, now 50% off, cool green sandals from Low Classic, now $180, and a crochet tote from JW Anderson, now 50% off.

1. This week, sharing these pretty flats from J.Crew, now 30% off.

Now given that I just wrote about reducing my number of shoes I only present these as an option! I like them a lot because a) they look comfortable and b) they look like they’d go with a lot of items. Very pretty! Given designer sandal prices lately these are a nice alternative.

2. An interesting piece, via The Atlantic, about why other countries have better sunscreen.

3. A piece via the NYT about “boob tape.” I had to admit I bought this tape a long time ago and have never used it as I just am too lazy. I also don’t go anywhere where a regular bra wouldn’t do.

4. A really interesting piece, via the NYT, about the group of Russian faces who have disappeared from the front row.

5. This week I read The Buddha In The Attic by Julie Otsuka.

I’d recently read The Swimmers, which is my only Otsuka book. My friend Kirsten said this novel was her favorite Otsuka however, and so I decided to try. And it’s wonderful. Not necessarily easy – about a group of Japanese women who arrive in the US in the early 1900’s – but so engaging and thoughtful and funny and heartbreaking at once. I highly recommend The Buddha In The Attic.

I actually wore some boob tape today with the silk dress from Quince. I wore one of those bras with spaghetti straps but not a lot of support. I used boob tape underneath for some added support.

I have started wearing Supergoop mineral sunscreen and my life has changed for the better. I HATE the feeling of lotion and sunscreens, but the Supergoop one feels like baby powder. Also tried the Kroger and TJ dupe and they work well for the price point, but stings my eyes a litte.
