As things slowlyyyyy get “back to normal” I’ve been having less of these Covid diary entries. But I thought it was time for an update! For a few reasons (not least because I don’t have anything else to talk about):

My newest Ravensburger! I got it because of Game of Thrones.

But also because: (one) of my kids got their first shot! YAY! I was so happy, it was such a relief. We have another kid still too young but at least the one in elementary school get theirs…they are exposed to more kids, across a way broader cross section given their activities, so I’m really happy.

We did cancel a vacation to Maui. This was VERY PAINFUL. I don’t judge anyone for traveling to Hawaii given how cooped up we all are but it our decision was made both because of what I’ve heard from my friends that live there, and also to avoid stress on my end. I still haven’t flown on a plane with the kids and I could just feel in my bones it wasn’t going to be a real holiday. I knew I would a) stress the entire plane ride there, and then b) enjoy my 4-5 days, but not entirely because c) I’d also be stressing about my plane ride back. So we cancelled and are going to do a series of local holiday. It was fine. They’ll be fine.

Thanksgiving is coming up. I think for the first time we are going to give up on the turkey entirely. The only person who likes it is my husband and we have negotiated that he will get some sort of “Thanksgiving” sandwich instead from some deli that is apparently famous for it. The rest of us are having Peking duck. I’m so happy with this decision. Of course we will still have a ton of pie.

On TV: I watched Tenet for the first time. I’ll have to watch it again. I still need to watch THE CHAIR. My favorite continues to be RHOBH and I think this is an all time great season. Salt Lake City is pretty good too.

Shopping: I haven’t bought anything but whoever thought of this Joshua Jackson/Jodie Turner Smith campaign for J.Crew is genius. I’m still trying to buy shoes. Everything is still sold out.

How are you all doing?

Congratulations on your child’s first shot! I WFH but got a booster shot after talking to my GP, who told me to just go get one since there is plenty of supply. Apparently the screening questions were intentionally vague so that anyone who wants one can get one. I am curious if you have any thoughts on this?

Do you have Peking Duck recs in the Bay area? 🙂

I don’t!! I don’t know enough to tell the difference, I’m usually happy wherever I get it. I might do the Beijing Duck place in Cupertino!

Hooray for your child getting the shot! So sorry for the canceled vacation but if it means less anxiety – it’s worth it. 🙂

TJ’s has a turkey breast that you just need to pop into the oven or something if that seems like a good alternative? I don’t really eat any of the meat on Thanksgiving either. Sides and pie for me (:
