Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Strappy sandals from Madewell, now $90, a fun printed midi skirt from Acne, now 30% off, a polka dot mini dress from Zimmermann, now 40% off, a very pretty floral Liberty dress from J.Crew, now 30% off, and woven slides from Aquatalia, now $165.

1. This week, sharing a (relatively) inexpensive and cute pair of heels: these from Dolce Vita.

The reviews all say they are comfortable! And I remember having a pair of DV shoes before that I liked a lot (but I think they have now been jettisoned in a purge…which may or may not mean well). I am always intrigued by the idea of “soft and wearable” heels though and these are priced where I might want to give a try. Feedback welcome if you have these!

2. Another piece, via The Hollywood Reporter, about Scott Rudin and why the fallout from his behavior has been relatively limited. This is one of the news stories that continues to fascinate me…I wonder what the ultimate outcome will be, if anything.

3. I read with keen interest this piece in the NYTimes about “preventative” Botox. I am so interested in this and would definitely get Botox at some point I think. But I just don’t know when. I’d love to hear your experiences if you’re open to sharing!

4. Sharing this piece, via Vanity Fair, about how Rebekah Neumann is planning a comeback. That last line is incredible!

5. This week I read The Life and Death of Sophie Stark, by Anna North.

I really enjoyed this one. I knew almost nothing about either the book or Anna North going in and was instantly in awe of what an incredible writer she is. The book is split amongst various first person narratives, each detailing their time with a famous young director, Sophie Stark. If you’re looking for a good literary read, I highly recommend The Life and Death of Sophie Stark.

I have been doing botox since I turned 25. I get it in my glabellar region to prevent those frown lines … but the most important thing has been sunscreen (and tretinoin). I’ve also gotten lasers … feel free to email me for a good aesthetic surgery consultant.

Like Pam, I’ve been doing it for quite some time now. And using Retin A since I was 27. I do not look my age and I attribute it to both of those things, and sunscreen, along with good genes!

I have the DV shoes and just got them for my mom for Mother’s Day! They are the cutest and most comfortable shoes I own! Everyone asks me about them when I wear them out!
