The weather turned dark and cold this week here for us. That + daylight savings made for a slightly gloomy, slightly sleepy weekend but the good news about the all the vaccine availability, the May 1st date, July 4th possibilities, overrode it. I love seeing the number of vaccinations tick up each week here. It’s truly wonderful!

Daily life: is the same, basically, kids all remote still, and looking to be that way until May or June. I am beginning to do some summer camp signups (thank you to all who have recommended/commiserated on this time consuming and expensive task). Because I am anticipating the kids being back in some kind of school environment, and also as we’re doing more playdates, I am trying out a bunch of different kid masks. These from Happy Mask are my latest purchase – I’ll update how they are.

Another recent purchase is this straw hat. I really like it, because it is BIG for my BIG head. I bought size large and there is plenty of room (maybe a little too much, but I really hate tight hats). I’ll include a photo later. When the weather is better.

My second novel, Impostor Syndrome, comes out in three months. I’m excited (and slightly nervous) for you to read it. Did you know there are multiple ways to spell “impostor”? Both “impostor” with an O at the end, and “imposter” with an E at the end. They are both accepted spellings but the one with an O at the end is slightly more proper so that’s what is on my novel.

In the meantime, I have an idea for a new manuscript which I’ve been circling for awhile but it’s really hard to get there. It’s driving me crazy. So often I’ll get an idea which I think would be “really great for a book” and then on the page it completely collapses, at least in my hands. Oh gosh, I’ve got to stop talking about this, because it’ll just make me grouchy. So instead I’ll share with you:

….a cool puzzle I just completed. This is the Octopus puzzle by Liberty which I mentioned having received a few weeks back. This is one of my favorite puzzles, both overall and from Liberty, that I have ever done. Seriously a piece of art! And a hard and satisfying build. For those who aren’t familiar with Liberty, here is what all the pieces look like when they are separated:

Really fun, right? (You may have your own definition of “fun”). I carefully take them out of the box and turn them over (all which watching some show on Netflix or Amazon, usually).

Finally, sharing a favorite recipe for spaghetti carbonara which my kids actually love AND which is really easy to make. From the NYTimes recipe site, but it’s one of those recipes that they don’t hound you to subscribe to the cooking site for, for some reason (I’m going to give in and pay anyway, as I want to see a bunch of other recipes). I’m a very inexperienced, quite frankly bad chef, and this takes me about half an hour from beginning to end, not counting cleanup after lunch, which is always a disaster. Super simple, I usually have the ingredients on hand and it’s not so unhealthy (I think)? Anyway, sharing for all of you looking for another recipe out there.

How are you all, what are you doing? How are you feeling? Eating? Shopping? Reading? Do you have any favorite recipes easy recipes you can share (I should have asked this long ago!)
