Weekend Update

Sale PSA: The perfect snow boots from J.Crew, now 35% off with code FRIEND, an adorable beanie from LL Bean, now 15% off, and a very cotton boucle pullover from Free People, now under $50.

1. Today I am sharing not one item but an entire collection – Jil Sander’s for Uniqlo.

Oh my how do I love this collection. I LOVE it! What’s not to love…I think Jil Sander + Uniqlo is a match made in heaven, no? And the materials look quite good! At first I wasn’t going to share but then I read that there will be a restock Friday (today) and over the week so maybe we’ll (me??) get lucky. You can find all available items here.

2. I found this article, via the NY Times, about authenticating watches via blockchain more interesting than I thought I would. It actually is quite fascinating and I wonder how it might be used for handbags, jewelry in the future.

3. I loved this short Q&A, via FT, with the Chinese designer Guo Pei. Her taste! Her jewelry! I wish I could hear more from famous Chinese designers and artists.

4. I love a good smart film review….and yes, there’s a special evil pleasure when the review is a pan. So I loved this Vanity Fair one – Hillbilly Elegy is Shameless Oscar Bait.

5. This week I read While I Was Gone, by Sue Miller.

This was my first of Miller’s books. I have a few friends who are big fans of hers, and so I thought I’d start with one of her older ones. Now that I’m looking it seems it may actually be out of print? It was an Oprah Book Club pick! Anyway, I’m about halfway through and really enjoying it – I’d describe it as suspense, serious fiction about a woman who may be about to blow up a good marriage because of….well, you can read and see. This is a slow burn – thrilling, but not a thriller. Wonderfully written. If you are looking for a thoughtful, literary read, I recommend While I Was Gone (and if you’ve read others of Miller’s books please let me know!).

Thank you for your ongoing posts! I was able to access the Uniqlo website and pick up a few items on a whim last night. Also, I just finished Minor Feelings and it gave me so many notes to ponder. I look forward to reading your blog and hope your family is well.

I was able to order a couple coats and a turtleneck sweater. Did you order anything? I’m hoping everything fits – essentially I bought whatever I could find in my size. Blame the frenzy!
