Recent Purchases – October 2020

A wonderful day! A super excellent weekend! I drank for the first time in a while and am also sick of cable news. I don’t want to go on for too long as I’m sure you all had your own events this weekend. Instead, today is back to kind of regular programming, sharing some purchases from the last month. You will see that they all have the theme of WARM and COZY:

Ugg Ultra Mini Boots: Okay, this is my biggest recommendation! I have tried MANY an Ugg boot over the years. I am short and most lengths are not good on me (stumpsville). I have tried other models, kept them, used them, only for them to annoy me in some way (hot tip: The Real Real takes Uggs but you get very little so now I donate). But I LOVE these mini ones. They hit at the perfect place and don’t cut off the leg. You can wear them with leggings/ jeans and you don’t have to bother tucking in your pants. Short girls, rejoice! Our Ugg train has come!

I am a true size 6.5 and as the case with all the Uggs I’ve tried, I went half a size down to 6 and they are perfect. If you are a whole size, I’d stay with your size (maybe chance down if your foot is very narrow). But if you are a half size I’d go down.

I am so happy with having nice toasty feet and like these so much I am considering the leopard version too but I don’t think I have the gravitas.

PS: I am also very intrigued by the slipper version, for $75!! I would get them but am a little worried about my foot stepping out. But the price is nice.

Everlane Cashmere Waffle Henley. UGH Everlane actually has some really good sweaters this year. I had vowed to stop with sweaters but Everlane makes my favorite style and has the best quality for the price. I first saw this on their IG and was very very interested and finally decided to cave, partially because I love my crewneck from years back but have always wished that it had a slightly more open neck. Actually henleys/v-necks are my favorite sweater styles in general.

While my usual size is XS (I like a slightly loose fit) I actually took XXS in this one – the model above is 5’9 and is in an XS and I decided that was slouchy enough that I could size down. I also love this merino half zip version a LOT. It’s a little cheaper and as I’m still waiting for the waffle to arrive I might exchange if the waffle isn’t as nice as in photos. Will update.

J.Crew Chamois Workshirt: I actually saw this recommended on I think Twitter (?) only to realize later it was a discussion among MEN. However by then I was intrigued enough by the description to actually order it for myself to try in XS (it has been a stressful week). I’ve been eyeing this Fjord jacket from Patagonia for some time and thought it’d be a lighter version. And it is! The fabric is NICE. Super soft and thick and flannely and it is 100% cotton. Why do I feel that men’s fabric is always nicer? And cheaper? The color is PERFECT and I wear it as a long layer over a long sleeve shirt in the house – it’s honestly the kind of light jacket you’d find on say, Sezane, modeled by some pouty French lady for $160 (I love Sezane, just to be clear. I know I am going WAY off topic but I am very into this zebra sweater. But as I said, I am trying to reduce my sweaters).

And finally –

An American flag and pole. Yeah!! We already had one but we can’t find it and while I hate duplicating purchases I really wanted to hang an American flag right away. No matter which side you were on in this election, I’m hoping we’ll all find reasons to be proud of our country in the coming four years.

What did you add this/last month?

I got the slippers in leopard and I love them. I only wear them in the apartment and the horse hair has started to wear off already – got them at end of September. :/ so that stinks but they are gorgeous.
