Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Fun Nike trainers with an awesome sole, now 40% off, an Evelyne PM in Gris Mouette (highly desired color), under $2500, fun Aquazzura colorblock sandals, now 60% off, black suede booties from Blondo (I hear great reviews from readers!) now under $100, and an ADORABLE sweater skirt (I actually want this whole outfit! And it’s pull on!) is currently 30% off, at J.Crew.

1. This week, for anyone else who is stress shopping, these very cute sandals, from Madewell, currently 25% off.

I love these sorts of sandals – low and walkable, strappy, enough straps so that there’s lots of support, cushioned insole. This sandal, in fact, is my jam and I am just deciding whether to get the beige pair or the leopard (I like the leopard but worry about the calf in summer)? Madewell currently has 25% off their site which happens rarely enough that I actually wonder if it was a last minute decision – to compensate for all the other economic impacts they and all sorts of smaller retailers are going to be feeling.

To that end…we have enough COVID-19 news from other sources this week. So I’m sharing non related articles. Though, if you want to restore some faith that humanity is calm and kind, read the comments of my last post! They are wonderful!

Now, moving on…

2. From the NYT: How Not To Fight About Money After Kids. So important but actually most couples I talk to seem to be on the same page about money? Or at least they seem like it.

3. Sharing this piece, via Bustle, about the rise and fall of Rebekah Neumann. I find Rebekah at the very LEAST as interesting as her husband. I wonder where she will reappear? Is she a scammer?

4. Also this wonderful (and long) article, via The Daily Beast, about a huge McDonald’s/Monopoly scam. Amazing!!

5. This week, I read Children of Time, by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

I’m not a sci-fi reader, really. I didn’t grow up reading it and so don’t gravitate towards it and because I’m a lunkhead or some other reason it usually doesn’t stick with me. BUT… I loved this book. It’s concepts, the story, the prose – everything. I tore through it in less than a week and if you’re looking for a distraction from it all (though it does take place in a future where humans have destroyed the Earth…just FYI) try this out! If you like sci-fi, or fantasy, but even if you just like a wonderful, well written story – I highly recommend Children of Time.
