Recent Purchases – Everlane, Hershel, Schott, Moon River

Today, reviewing some recent purchases:

First up is this Schott Cropped Moto Jacket, $665. I know we are past leather jacket season but I really love this one and had to share. I’ve tried multiple cropped leather jackets over the years, including various iterations of the Acne Mock which I really tried to make work, but for some reason it was always off on my body. Schott is one of the original leather jacket manufacturers – kind of like the Levi’s of leather jackets – and this one is really, really good. The length is perfect, the leather is perfect, the zipper is perfect, the details are perfect. It’s less than half the cost of the Acne. The arms aren’t even too long, although it would be great if they were a tiny bit shorter, but not enough to bother with alterations. The leather is a little lighter than my Balenciaga biker which makes it better for spring nights as well.

The dress I’m wearing underneath is from Moon River, and it’s one of my favorite spring dress buys so far. I’ve tried to recommend it multiple times but it keeps selling out, so I’ll just say that if you like it, bookmark it and check for your size. The perfect midi linen dress that allows you to adjust as you like for the front slit, and it even covers your bra straps. I’m very happy with this one.

Next up – Everlane Day Heel Mules, $155. I admit I’ve been super late to the heeled mule trend. I just have the worst memories of tottering about on mules when I was younger and realizing only years later how uncomfortable they were. I actually quite like these, and they are way more comfortable than I thought. The insole is padded. The only thing is, they are a bit loose on my foot but I think that’s part of the design. Super easy to slip on and off. I might exchange these for the black (or yellow)….still deciding.

And then, finally – the Hershel Cruz Crossbody, $35. Okay this is probably my favorite purchase in the past few weeks. And it’s quite inexpensive. I know it’s not very glamorous (actually the complete opposite), but really, this bag is excellent, especially if you’re a mom running around after your kids. For the longest time I’ve been searching the perfect little crossbody bag to hit the spot of lightweight + small enough to tuck into a backpack + can fit a phone and keys + reasonably secure. I tried all sorts of designer versions and many came close, but you don’t always want something so expensive, you know? Sometimes you just want function. And this little Hershel bag is perfect. Super lightweight, a comfortable, adjustable webbed strap, two outside pockets which can fit a big iPhone, an inside slip pocket that can fit sunglasses and snacks and keys and some cash…and it zips. What more could you want?  And if you’ve been used to paying designer bag prices, you will rejoice.

One thing to note: to be clear, this is a strictly casual bag. Shorts and or a simple cotton dress. Not anything I would wear with even a cashmere sweater in the fall or nicer dress in the summer. But so perfect for casual days at the playground, etc.

Hi Katherine! I recently purchased more Uniqlo Jersey v neck t-shirts. They are ighter weight than the regular supination cotton ones. I also purchased the new Chanel tinted lip balm. I got deep, it’s from the Les Beiges 2018 colllection.

I love that Schott leather jacket on you! I had no idea Nordstrom was carrying the brand now. I first encountered it when I was looking for pea coats at an army surplus store. Their quality seems excellent! Really impressive in the age of fast fashion.

Recent obsession with Massimo Dutti, bought 4 tops, 2 Edmundser (local designer) shift dresses for $60, 2 printed linen shift dresses from Marks & Spencer, a beauty haul from Sephora sale including 2 eye creams from Clinique, Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair, Dior Lip Glow, Caudalie Body Lotion. Couldn’t resist Chanel Le Vernis 2018 and had to add Exquisite Pink into my collection.

Now eyeing the Omega Tresor 36mm….and my list never ends.

I’m obsessed with the LV Pochette Accessories with a long crossbody strap when I’m out with my toddler and travelling. I only keep my wallet and phone with me though, everything else goes into a diaper backpack on the stroller or hubby haha. Very light and carefree too!
