Favorites of 2023

Sale PSA: Simple sandals from Jimmy Choo, now 45% off, chic mules from Manolo Blahnik, now 35% off, and the Celine sunglasses I’ve been eyeing from Matches, currently 15% off with code NEWYEAR15.

Hi! Sharing some of my favorite items of 2023, on the last very last day of the year. I would LOVE to hear some of your favorites this year – as you will be able to see, I have been sorely needing some inspiration, and would love to hear some real live favorites (as opposed to Instagram etc etc). Wishing you all a very wonderful 2024!

Quince cashmere cardigan: I have THREE of these and really love them. My lazy day option with leggings and I have so many colors in a sad effort to have some variation in my winter school pick up outfits. They are getting worn OUT. My new favorite is the cropped version. I really like it and wish they had more colors as I already have the colors in the long version!

(Small pet peeve: I wish they had matching colored buttons to the fabric).

Issey Miyake Bao Bao tote: I use this tote a lot. This is technically a 2022 purchase as I bought mine in Japan but I just like using it. So light and useful and I get a lot of compliments. I think whenever we go to Japan I will get a Bao Bao item.

Baggu Crescent bag: I use this bag a lot. It is so roomy and useful and I machine wash them when they get dirty. They fit a ton and come in lots of fun colors and it isn’t like you are dropping thousands so you can take some risks. I have two and have to stop myself from buying more as Baggu is supposed to be about reusing and I don’t want to just keeping adding. This is the perfect alternative to the simple canvas tote (which I also use, but I prefer the Crescent at times as it has a zip, and zip pockets).

Byredo in Rose of No Man’s Land: My favorite new scent! I like rose scents, sorry, and actually have a few Byredo scents that I have been enjoying (Mojave Ghost, anyone?) but this is probably my top. I don’t do well with very heavy scents so tend towards lighter, fruity scents (yes, I have never aged out of Bath and Body Works).

Oh wow, okay, looking now at this list I really do appear as the most basic of the basic. Well I’m nearly forty and I will have to accept my basic fate. But if you have any favorites, please do share! And again, wishing you a wonderful year and celebration.

I will proudly go against the grain and proclaim that the Dyson Airwrap is a game changer! The ability to achieve a professional blowout look without having to juggle a brush and hair dryer is quite the relief.

In second place are my Nour Hammour shearling coats and my Prada puffy long coat (divisive, I know).

I’m always so excited to see you post 🙂
Tibi nylon Stellas. They are Mary Poppins pants. They fit the contents of a tote bag: baby bottle, stuffed animals, e-reader, snacks… it’s absurd. Maybe I look absurd, but I survived 6 locations in 20 days with 2 kids under age 3 in those magic pants.

There’s nothing wrong with a good workhorse piece! I’m finally falling in love with outerwear now that my closet contains the perfect leather jacket (ABLE) and an excellent thrifted wool camel coat (Elie Tahari). Bring on the cold (wait, not too cold!) weather!

I love Rose of No Man’s Land so much! I purchased my first bottle on a trip to Florence in 2018 and have been wearing it ever since. I keep thinking I need to find something new, but I haven’t found anything I like better.

Some random favorites: Officine Buly dry oil in yuzu – incredible! Lovely formula, wonderful yuzu mint scent, and beautiful packaging. Also been loving White + Warren cashmere tunics, they make up part of my perfect lazy winter outfit. Found some at TJ Maxx for a steal. Very much enjoying Anya Hindmarch’s reusable grocery bags – they are very sturdily crafted and meant to least a very long time. She’s partnered with some large chains (alas not in the US!) to release them; I got mine from a reseller.
