First, thank you all for your kind replies to my last post. I confess that I always feel a bit sheepish writing those sort of “Where am I? Why am I here?” type posts (I always think of Zoolander) and yet I am always happy to post them because the comments are always so wonderful and thoughtful. I’m always in awe of the people who read here. THANK YOU. I appreciate each of you and will be referring back to the comments many times for ideas and recommendations.

1. This week, sharing this chic striped sweater jacket from J.Crew.

I have been eyeing this for quite a while and waiting for a code. I got some alert about a one year anniversary of their Passport loyalty program, with a 30% off celebration, and went to my cart, finally convinced I was going to buy – only to find that all EIGHT random items I had saved in there were ALL excluded. WHAT? I hope this means J.Crew is back to a path of fiscal health but man! I’m just not used to paying full price there. But I do love this jacket – reminds me of the J.Crew of “old.”

2. I liked this article, via the Washington Post, about pickpocket alerters in Italy. They are doing the Lord’s work! I have to confess going to London I was warned by some local friends not to wear anything expensive due to machete wielding (???) thieves. But once we arrived it seemed completely fine! I don’t want to discount their experience though.

4. Enjoyed this piece, via the NYT, about Jane Birkin’s legacy of style.

3. I liked this article, via the WSJ, about the “perfect” handbag according to women across a range of age spectrums. I love that ombre Chanel!

5. This week, I read The Quiet Tenant, by Clemence Michallon.

OK, a reader recommended me this. It was great!! THANK you to Cynthia for it – as an author I’m always horrified somewhat to discover that a book came out which I have heard nothing about, but which I end up loving. How can we make more people aware of great books! Well I guess I’m trying my best here.

Anyway. This book is an excellent thriller. Disturbing? Yes. But really engaging and I kept wanting to read to the end. I would say it has echoes of Room – though stylistically very different. If you’re looking for a summer thriller, I highly recommend The Quiet Tenant.
