Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Beautiful flats from Jimmy Choo, now 40% off, an ultra chic boucle mini dress from Jil Sander, now 70% off, and this great cardigan from Uniqlo, now under $20.

Hi all, I am sorry I’ve been remiss in posting. I went to Europe with the kids for their first trip there and then right after was struck down with some awful virus which I’ve been told is going around – it is nasty! Anyway, I’m just getting over it, but back to posting today!

1. This week, sharing a cute linen dress from J.Crew.

I’ve been semi stalking this dress, waiting for it to come in my size in white for ages. It never does! It went on sale for $100 so I finally shared it here and now by the time I’m posting they’ve put it back to full price again. What? Anyway, it’s a great dress and I recommend it if you are looking for a nice, classic minidress.

2. A thought provoking piece, via the FT, about how luxury is Europe’s joke on the world. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, not in the exact same way but more just how I want to consume “luxury” in general.

3. As a big Baggu fan, I enjoyed this piece, via the NYT, about Gen Z’s love of Baggu. I related to the bit in the article about having to try not to buy too many Baggus – I love them. And they are soo useful.

4. Your fun, interesting read of the week, via The Atlantic, on being a luxury wedding planner. The author, Xochitl Gonzalez, also wrote Olga Dies Dreaming, which I also enjoyed.

5. This week, I read Beware The Woman, by Megan Abbott.

I am an Abbott fan – I love a good thriller/mystery, and hers are always reliably not only thrilling, but well written and unique. I’d rank this as one of her better ones too…and they’re all quite good! If you’re looking for a smart, eerie thriller, I highly recommend Beware The Woman.

Loved the ft article! Truthfully so rare to see ‘real’ Londoners , Parisians etc carrying obvious labels. It’s considered a bit gauge. When you see people dressed like that they are usually tourists, suburbanites, or out of towners.
All the influencers out there ‘normalising’ excess – yes fake news and it’s all a bit of a joke.

The FT article was indeed thought-provoking and I’d love to hear your thoughts when you’re ready to share. It’s a topic on my mind as well a I try to reconcile my closet with my ethics. It’s a ‘journey’.
