Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Chic crystal embellished flats from Aquazzura, now 50% off, a versatile denim shirt from Tibi, now 40% off, and COS currently has 25% off sitewide (except for most shoes and bags…grr) – how about this great green cardigan or an excellent twill jacket?

1. This week, sharing these gorgeous patent loafers, from Saint Laurent.

I am a fan of these and suppose at this point I am supposed to be grateful they are priced at below $1K? Wha? I love the patent and the little gold which isn’t very logo-y and the little toe which makes them special. Will add to sale wish list.

2. I really liked this feature, via The Cut, on Ali Wong. I’m a fan and cannot wait to watch her new show.

3. Sharing this interesting piece, via The New Yorker, on whether Ozempic will make us change our view on being ‘fat’ and being ‘thin.’

4. I liked this piece, via the NYT, about how Gwyneth Paltrow dresses for court. I’ve liked her outfits! I hadn’t seen a photo of the green coat before, either.

5. OK I have to admit…I haven’t read anything new this week…I’ve started a bunch and haven’t gotten into it so am just re-reading Ferrante (now on #2). I have been sick, which is also why this post is coming up late, and watching Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. I sometimes get questions if I really read a book a week – I do, most weeks! But this week, I couldn’t do it. On the couch streaming Bravo and Peacock (and wondering if I need to start Vanderpump Rules….I have never watched it….but will the shock value be gone now?)

I watch Vanderpump Rules…not sure if you picked it up now it would be any “good”. I think you would be better off starting at the beginning…it isn’t like Housewives. The musical chairs of relationships, romantic and otherwise have been quite discombobulated over the years…

Those YSL flats are too cute! Love ’em but they’re too flat for me to wear comfortably or they’d be in my bag. Isn’t that terrible that we think under $1000 is a reasonable price? I remember not paying over $500 for anything but a boot, and it wasn’t that long ago. I wonder where the point is where we just won’t do it. I bought sandals last year for $900 (more than one!) and don’t like feeling like I’m being taken advantage of.

    Hi Kat,

Saw this and wondered if you have ever seen his videos – interesting viewpoint. And then, if you had maybe read this article?

Article Title: What are the true costs of making your handbag?

It is behind a paywall but if you can’t read it, you can just look up “Tanner.Leatherstein” and get ready to be frankly fascinated.

I really like those YSL flats. And then after I saw them, I went down a YSL rabbit hole and literally browsed through their entire collection on net-a-porter.

Sorry you’ve been sick and hope you are much better. Those flats are really cute. I can’t believe shoe prices have been creeping up. I remember when Manolos were $300-$400!
