Hi! This week, sharing some of my favorite purchases of 2022.

Van Cleef Trace chain. This was one of my most worn purchases, as I got it near the beginning of the year. For the longest time I’ve been in search of a slightly longer gold chain that can go over the head without unclasping (yes because I’m lazy) and tried out a few less expensive options before finally splurging for this one. I I know I could have found similar somewhere else for likely cheaper but I have always liked Van Cleef (and Cartier) chains – the way they are cut makes the gold shine so nicely in the light. It’s a really well done chain and makes all my pendants look nicer and I’ve gotten a lot of wear out of it.

Nike Air Rift shoes: these are not my husband’s favorite but they are mine! I love sneakers that I don’t have to wear with socks and these are SO comfortable. I want to buy a backup as I like these so much but I swore to stop doing that. Maybe I’ll get another color instead. One day.

Also, in Japan, I saw they had SO many cool colorways of this shoe on their site but none were available in the US! I went as far as to visit the Harajuku store to see if I could buy them in person, but they had none in stock. Anyway.

Quince slipdress: I reviewed this earlier in the year. I’ve worn it quite a lot, layered under sweaters, etc. It’s a great dress which can really do dressy to casual events quite easily! A close second is the slip skirt, which I also reviewed, but honestly black is just lower maintenance than ivory (though I love how the ivory looks more). Overall I am a fan of Quince silk and linen and have liked all items I have tried in those categories!

Uniqlo Heattech Scoop tee: I think I bought my first one of these last year but I’ve since bought a few more and I love them. They keep me so warm underneath everything in the winter (and it’s been COLD and rainy here). I prefer the scoop as it doesn’t show under lower cut sweaters, etc. One of my best “cost per wear” items.

Tibi Liam in Angora: I resisted this for a long time because of the cost but I got it and I love it and have no regrets! It’s so cozy and nice. I wore it all around Japan. It’s the perfect traveling coat/jacket. Also please forgive the bad photo as I was looking in my phone for one of the jacket and found this that I sent to a friend (who ended up buying the navy). It’s a nice oversized fit! Also, I took the size XXS and it’s still really roomy. If you don’t like a really oversized fit, I’d size down.

PS: I like almost all the Tibi Liam jackets HOWEVER I don’t necessarily think it’s the wonder item that the brand touts it as….as always, try things on and decide for yourself! Also the brand always says to take your “true size” but honestly so many items are really oversized that I would feel free to size down if you want. I did and I’m happy with the fit. It’s about what makes YOU (the customer) happy, in my opinion.

Beauty favorite: and finally, one skincare item, which is Cerave Night Cream. I’m on my third jar! It’s inexpensive and in my opinion works really well. It doesn’t glide on as easily as some of my more expensive items but it moisturizes well and I feel no worries about slathering it on all over. I’m really happy with this find and its a good supplement to my more expensive moisturizers (currently Chanel Hydra cream).

I’ve been really pleased with Cerave’s products, they are all amazing and the pricing is great.

Fav2022 purchases that I use the most (although I must say, looking back, I came out with a lot of great things this year): Sweet Alhambra vca earrings in onyx and mother of pearl which I alternate and wear daily, updated kindle paper white (love the new wireless charging option), and my limited dodge ram truck (I actually prefer this to my Tesla).

OMG I want to hear both about the Kindle (I am long overdue for a new one) and the Dodge Ram!

Well, the new kindle paperwhite is great, because you can just pop it on the wireless stand and it charges really fast. The charge lasts a long time- like a month between the next charge, even if I am reading daily (which I do). And it auto brightens like your iPhone depending on your surroundings. It’s also waterproof. Good around kids who spill things like mine.

The truck. I love it! It’s so comfy and roomy, sort of like a boat inside. the seats (even all the passenger seats) are vented both with heat and AC , and I am always exactly the right temperature I want to be, very quickly. If we are in an accident (god forbid), our car will win. It is so safe and big. 2 car seats fit very comfortably with room to spare. And I can lug lots of stuff around. Currently, lots of bicycles. Hopefully horses someday.

I have a thing for trucks. They both sound GREAT. I’ll be getting the Kindle soon.

Concur about how wonderful it is to have a chain necklace that can be slipped over the head! And now I am contemplating the Van Cleef one…Kat, are you wearing yours with pendants? Charms? Would love to hear more. My favorite purchases of 2022 were our new SF house (that was a big one!) and three items from Elizabeth Suzann – two of the raglan sleeve climate beneficial wool sweaters and the denim pants. So easy and I can wear them anywhere.

I love your blog, and have been reading for years! I’d love to hear more about your most used/favorite pieces of jewelry – the chain you wrote about is gorgeous. Random question, but what pants are you wearing in the photo of the Liam jacket? So hard to find petite friendly joggers.

Thank you! It’s the Calder jogger from Tibi but I can only semi-recommend it as it stretches out a lot during the day. But I like how it looks!

I wear it often with one of my old pendants (from various places/vintage) and I also got the plain Astrologie charm from VCA to go with it too 🙂

This is super basic, but I love my Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag. I use it everyday. It’s perfect when I take my pandemic pup out for a walk because it holds all the essentials, but I can be hands-free. I’ve also eschewed my crossbody handbag when I need to run errands because the belt bag is less cumbersome. Highly recommended!

J.Crew, but I can only lukewarm recommend as they aren’t *that* comfortable!

Nike Air Rifts are the best! I have owned two pairs of black leather ones and I wore them to pieces. I bought Nike Air Rift Breathe and they are great but would love for Nike to reissue ones in leather.

Take a look at StockX or Grailed for the Rift – probably has every size and color ever made

The vca trace chain is beautiful! Can you share the more inexpensive options you were considering? Thank you!

I looked at some from Costco (nice, but a little light), and Quince!
