Hi! I’m writing this in between sneezes. My allergies have started to go haywire this week. Anyone else? I have a few really bad days a year and this is one of them. Just sneeze and sneeze and sneeze all over again. For awhile I was convinced that eating chocolate stopped it somehow but honestly it just seems that I wanted to eat chocolate because nothing has changed. Anyway, I have all the remedies, both prescription and natural…just some whining.

Covid-19: We are almost there. Or are we? I keep saying I have accepted that we will all get it eventually…but then the medical professionals in my life remind me that this is really not the right attitude to have. I get it but I’m also so fatigued over it all. I nearly have my 4 year old to the finish line of vaccination…either Moderna will release or she’ll turn 5. Either one is OK at this point.

This is our spring break week: another week of no childcare!! I know this is old news to everyone with school age children we just had a week off in February. I like having this much time with the kids but you also wonder how people manage.

Shopping: I have been buying old items off of an old haunt – eBay! It’s been vintage sweaters and random other items. With knits its always a worry though as I am paranoid about moths. But there are soo many great discount knit items for sale. And awesome items in general! I got a Vivienne Tam dress the other day. So great.

Politics: Oh lord, I really don’t want to talk politics right now…but I did want to ask all of you, what you are doing about political discussions in your life. I think I’ve been fairly upfront with how I feel about Russia’s war on Ukraine…and lately there are people who I feel have been so in my face about the topic…they mix a bit of truth and a lot of “whataboutism” and NATO this and etc etc and I just don’t know how to deal. I want to be accepting of different views. But I also have a moral red line. How do you all feel? There’s a lot going on in the world right now.

    Old rag pickers trick.

Throw the unopened package in the freezer for a week or so and any little strangers will freeze to death.

Then open outside on a sunny day and hang out to let the dust and any dead critters blow away.

Then I hang wash but dealers usually bulk dry clean.

    Good luck!

I’ve started and stopped so many times to comment on the part about Ukraine. The whataboutism is really all I need to know. The other events were also horrific and shitty and we didn’t do enough. That’s not an excuse to be okay with horrific and shitty things happening now. I know there’s nuance in finding a way forward but there no real nuance in quietly derailing us from a path forward. I’m making a lot of assumptions at what those folks might have said but come on.

      You’ve stated it perfectly.

It does beg the question… why does Ukraine merit call outs? France forces its ex colonies to pay back slavery and liberation debt and use a currency that Paris devalues at leisure, under threat of invasion? Not a peep on one of your many trips to eat bonbons and shop?
