Weekend Update

Sale PSA: A crop jersey polo from Theory, now 40% off, cool knit pants with a front slit from Uniqlo, now just $40, fun patent ankle boots from Miista, now $202, and a cashmere half zip sweater from Elie Tahari, now just $160.

1. This week, I am eyeing these sandals from Dear Frances.

I have been wanting the Ginza sandals from The Row for several years. But seriously – the price! I like these Dear Frances sandals as an alternative, and the reviews are great. Has anyone tried this brand?

2. I absolutely loved this interview between Andre Leon Talley and Michael Kors, for Interview Mag. I’ve recommended The Chiffon Trenches multiple times here (including in my favorite books of 2020) – this book inspired and moved me. Rest in piece to an icon.

3. I enjoyed this article, via the NYT, about people finding their style during the pandemic.

4. An interesting (??) profile on Joss Whedon – called The Undoing of Joss Whedon, which should tell you everything. I do love Buffy. I wish I had time for a re-watch.

5. This week I read The Copenhagen Trilogy, by Tove Ditlevsen.

This is a memoir, and the story of Tove, who starts as a girl in Copenhagen who’s mother makes her feel ashamed for reading, is really remarkable. You experience her childhood, her marriage, her troubles and addictions. And she’s a very elegant, and quite often blunt writer. If you liked the Ferrante trilogy, or interesting memoirs, I highly recommend The Copenhagen Trilogy.

    Hi Kathy,

Dear Frances are great! I have a pair of their Chelsea Boots and the quality is amazing. The leather is so soft but the boots themselves are sturdy and robust. I love the cut as well. So I vote get the sandals! They’re very chic.

    All the best,

I don’t have any shoes from Dear Frances (yet), but there is a pair of lace up ankle boots I’ve been eyeing. I like those sandals…they have quite a lot of foot coverage, which is different from the Tkees I usually wear.
