Hi there, the holiday break seemed really long at the beginning, kind of long in the middle, and then today as I realized tomorrow the kids go back to school and everything starts again it suddenly seemed too short. How about you?

I started off this post moaning about Covid again (I recently realized that Covid19 means it was from 2019…….and it is, well……) but you know, I’m going to save that for later. Or never (I wish). Today I wanted to starting writing about some resolutions – I recently sat down and jotted down my resolutions for the year, some wardrobe resolutions yes, but also life resolutions.

It’s been a trip going through all the various ups and downs of the past few years (we’re at the end! new variant! vaccine delay!) and through it all I’ve struggled with the idea of both feeling unlucky, and incredibly fortunate. As I head into this year I’d really like to have a healthy mindset, to stress less, to not care about the things that matter, to care about the things that do. I realize this isn’t really a list of resolutions…more like one of those kitchen decorations you might find at Home Goods that says “Live Laugh Love” but.

I really would like to try to have a more positive year, in all respects. I would like to try to keep my family healthy…I want to stay sane and have a cleaner house. And. I want to extend more patience, understanding, and love to those around me. The last one is a resolution I’m really going to work on.

So. The first resolution for me this year is to be understanding. And to be kind. There are so many people I have met in the last year exhibiting extraordinary grace under pressure…I’d like to extend that assumption that everyone I interact with. That idea of everyone having a secret struggle…it sounds cliche because it is cliche, I guess because it is true. We’re all struggling. And it would be easier for all of us if we were kind to one another, extended forgiveness, and assumed the best.

What are some of your resolutions for 2022? If any?

I remember you followed the Elizabeth Holmes story for a while. She’s finally found guilty on most charges!

Thank you for sharing Kat! I feel similarly with the struggle to be unhappy and yet also feeling fortunate, so I completely relate. I love your resolution.

I don’t usually do resolutions at year end, but I do always like to reflect and ponder what the next year may bring that I could influence. But this year, with Omicron going completely bonkers at year end and messing up our return to school and bringing more uncertainty, I had no brain space left to do this!

As much as possible I want to continue taking time to myself, which is no easy feat with three little kids, so I can be a better version of myself when I get back. I started doing this in earnest in the pandemic and I want to keep this up and also make the space for my husband to do the same. It doesn’t come natural but the results so far have been astonishing.

Here’s to a better 2022 than 2021 or 2020 combined, for all of us, in happiness, health, and feeling less stress.
