A Few Uniqlo Finds

Sale PSA: Tan chelsea boots from Everlane, now just $78 (!!), chic lug boots from Phillip Lim, now 30% off, a comfortable olive modal skirt from ATM, now $109, and and my absolute favorite glass tumblers are currently 25% off – we use these everyday and they are wonderful. I am contemplating the colorful ones now!

Hi there! I hope you had a good weekend. I recently have added some items on sale from Uniqlo that I really like, and so wanted to share! Some of them have limited stock, but I would just bookmark if you like and check back – I have found that sizes go in and out of stock.

The first is this Uniqlo +J (the Jil Sander collaboration) down jacket. I wasn’t going to get it at first because the reviews are really mixed. A lot of people didn’t like this jacket and/or seemed to have difficulty with sizing, especially shorter people (like me). I tried it out on a lark and liked it quite a lot! Especially for $100. Yes, the sleeves are long, and it flares out a little bit. But I like the style and it’s really easy to throw on over leggings for the school run.

I took size XS – I considered size XXS but since it’s kind of a blazer fit, I was worried about a tight shoulder fit when layered with sweaters. I think I could have done XXS but I’m happy with the XS – I can easily zip it up with sweaters underneath and it’s just an easy loose fit.

The second, also from the Jil Sander collaboration, is this short wool jacket. I was attracted to it because of the pockets and cuts, but wasn’t sure because I like very very soft wool/cashmere blends and this is wool and 20% nylon. Anyway, when it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised! It’s quite soft and the sleeves are lined. The cut is also really nice. Because it’s a drop shoulder, I felt comfortable taking XXS, and it’s the right size.

Also, underneath this jacket I have on the Heattech scoop neck tee. I’ve noticed (as part of the 90’s trend?) that there are a lot more tightly fitted shirts lately – I think these scoop necks are a great way to have that trend without spending too much (and have a practical item to boot). I size up on these – I take a size small.

And one more favorite way to wear this wool jacket – with a striped blouse. I just think it works nice with the navy. This one is my current favorite, from Everlane – the cotton is really nice and soft and it layers well underneath sweaters, too. It’s thinner than other shirts I have but it’s been very useful. I got mine in early fall and took a size 0. I’ve been wearing it a ton, actually – it’s a nice length and dressier than a tee but still soft and comfortable.

Okay! So those were some of my recent Uniqlo finds. Do you have any to share? I love Uniqlo!

One of my most complimented pieces of clothing is an oversized hoodie/sweatshirt dress from Uniqlo that I got 2 years ago. Uniqlo is mostly good for very simple classic basics, which can get very boring (for me). Their sizing is not the best for me either. I’m always interested in the +J shirts, but the black or white ones sell out immediately, and I’m not a diehard that will re-arrange my life so I can buy fashion items. Most of the heattech I have is from the men’s section because at the times I needed it, the women’s stuff was sold out.

Love your +J items and seriously considered the down jacket. I live in the mountains and so wear Heattech in some form on a daily basis. Shirts, tights and socks in the winter, tanks in the summer. It pairs nicely with H scarves 🙂

From the summer/fall Jil Sander/Uniglo collection, I love the denims. I bought raw denim straight legs and loved them so much I got white and black. The sizing is only off a bit. I can’t wear most uniglo pants as I’m short-waisted and for some reason they literally go up to my boob shelf! Even going down two sizes is not enough in most cases.

    I love uniqlo too!
