Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Pretty basketweave slides from Tory Burch, now 33% off, a silk quilted jacket from Eileen Fisher (that I think looks quite chic!) now $164, and simple joggers from Madewell, now $26 with code SALEONSALE.

Also, the second round of Jil Sander/Uniqlo just launched and there’s a decent amount of (some) stuff left – I think because they limited to one per style. Worth a browse!

1. This week, sharing a pair of flats from Gucci.

I like these a lot! The only thing that is stopping me (AS ALWAYS) is both the price and lack of inventory. But they say they are coming soon! I added myself to the waitlist. The horsebit is my favorite “logo” detail that Gucci does – I like it more than the double Gs and other stuff (my other favorite is the bamboo). And it also seems like ballet flats are coming “back”? Who knows anything? (Not me).

2. I liked this feature, in The Cut, on how five women prepared to leave their jobs.

3. A short piece, via Vogue, on the 15 items that fashion editors receive compliments on the most.

4. As an ardent fan of grouchy restaurant reviews, I enjoyed this, via the Guardian, on the new Batman (??) themed restaurant in London.

5. This week, I read Going There, by Katie Couric.

I have to admit I’ve never really thought much about Katie Couric. I know who she is of course, but that’s about it. And I picked up this memoir mainly because I read that it was gossipy. And it is! But also a fascinating, well written look at a famous career. If you’re looking for a fascinating biography and are at all interested in the media world, I recommend Going There.

Love these too, and just ordered them from the Gucci website! They show a shipping date at the end of November.

I am listening to the audiobook for Katie Couric’s biography and it has been pretty good and illuminating. From what I heard, I thought it would be dishy, it is slightly but not so bad.
