Weekend Update

Sale PSA: A great ribbed tie waist cardigan from Brochu Walker, now 40% off, a floral mini dress from Zimmermann, now 50% off, a very useful raincoat/jacket from North Face, now $96, and a really cute merino ribbed skirt from Uniqlo, now just $15!

1. This week, sharing the cutest raffia bucket hat, from J.Crew.

Nothing much to say except that it is a very cute hat! I’ve been trying to catch it on a promotional code discount – there was one briefly for 25% off for full price items, and I was thinking about it because given that it’s J.Crew, I wanted slightly more, and then the code ended! In what seemed like twelve hours? Anyway, I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

2. First a little personal news: my sincerest thanks to you all for your kind words about my book. Seriously, putting one out into the world is both exciting and quite crushing (ask any author!) and I really appreciate your messages and comments. My book comes out on May 25th, and if you guys are free (and interested!) I would love to have you at my launch event, with Seija Rankins, the books editor of EW – you can register here. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

3. I really enjoyed this piece, by Kiese Laymon for the Cut: What We Owe and Are Owed. Laymon is a beautiful writer and if you like this essay I also recommend his book, Heavy.

4. Recommending a YouTube video this week, of Gwyneth Paltrow going over her outfits with Vogue. Paltrow can be quite smug but I really do like her outfits, don’t you? I slightly begrudgingly have to admit…she is an icon. And I do think it’s admirable that she seems to mostly dress herself.

5. A fun and salacious business read, via Bloomberg, about how Jeff Bezos beat the tabloids. My God! His girlfriend’s brother is a piece of work it seems!

6. This week I am recommending The Good Nurse, by Charles Graeber.

I finished this a few weeks ago and have been meaning to recommend it. It is RIVENTING. And horrifying – the true story of one of the most prolific serial killers in history, a doctor who murdered his patients, seemingly at random. If you’re looking for a good true crime read and don’t mind being possibly terrified the next time you go to the hospital – I highly recommend The Good Nurse.
