Weekend Update

Sale PSA: A canvas chore jacket from Everlane, now $46, classic Prada tortoiseshell sunglasses, now 40% off, and not a glamorous recommendation but all Smartwool socks are currently 20% off (I love these socks and they are so much more durable than regular socks).

Also, not on sale but someone shared with me this Etsy site for simple and inexpensive photo prints: a nice easy decor idea for anyone looking! I know you guys like Etsy recommendations!

First: thank you all so much for your kind messages and comments on Monday’s post. I truly appreciate all of the friendships and relationships I’ve made in the last decade here. Thank you 🙂

1. This week, sharing a pretty cotton smocked dress, from J.Crew.

Last year, I really didn’t think I’d ever want anything remotely fitted to the body again. And yet how quickly times change! I love how pretty this is, the length, the fact that it is organic cotton, and the classic “J.Crew meets Reformation” vibes. Bookmarking to wait for a sale.

2. Sharing this interesting piece, via the NYT, about Rachel Hollis of the “Girl Wash Your Face” fame.

3. I really enjoyed this piece, via the WSJ, about how women deserve more pockets. We do! We really do! Although actually I don’t always like how pockets actually look in clothes – in certain dresses/pants they really mess with the line.

4. A feature on The Cut: How Bethenny Frankel Gets It Done.

5. This week I read Piranesi, by Susanna Clarke.

I loved this one. I can’t describe it very well except that it’s a little fantasy, about a character who lives in a house with many rooms and rising water. You honestly have to read it to get more. A few notes: the book is a little slow going for the first ~20 pages and it isn’t going to be a traditional linear plot. But oh, it is so so wonderful. Especially if you are a fantasy fan and like some speculative in your fiction – I highly recommend Piranesi.

I really love pockets!! They are super handy for my phone (which are probably too big). When shopping for pants it’s now one of the major dealbreakers for me!!

Thank you so much for the Etsy recommendation. I actually live in Montreal and couldn’t be more thrilled to find a local artist to purchase prints from! I have been looking all over for the last few months for a dining room black & white image. It’s so tough right now with everything closed here! Merci beaucoup!
