Favorites of 2019

Sale PSA: Nike Flyknit 2s, now $75 (these are my favorite actual sneaker right now), a simple silk shell from Everlane, now $53, metallic slingbacks from Ganni, now $168, classic navy mary jane pumps from Manolo Blahnik, now 60% off, and a gorgeous gray Verrou just showed up on Fashionphile well under retail!

Today – I’m sharing some of my favorites of 2019! It was actually quite hard this year because I had quite a few (unfortunately I blew past my goal of trying to only buy 25 items a year). So here’s just a sample:

Elizabeth Suzann Polly Dress. I love easy midi dresses and this was one of my most worn so I had to include it! Even though I haven’t worn it for a few months as it’s been cold. The linen gauze is my favorite material for it – basically impervious to wrinkles as it is wrinkled already. My favorite easy dress, I like it so much I ordered another in another color.

Hermes Lindy Bag: (decently priced options here, and here). Not the most exciting of bags as it is black with palladium hardware BUT as I’ve been using the bag, I’ve realized that I really love the Lindy style. It’s so easy and useful and I’ve used mine a ton. It’s a workhorse. I am tempted to add another color one day. Love it.

Nisolo Ama Mule: My favorite shoe from Nisolo. The most comfortable and chic. I feel like this must be a popular style for them too as it never goes on sale.

Baggu Belt Bag (otherwise known as the fanny pack). If you know me in “real” life, you’ve probably seen me wearing this. I have two! I wear mine ALL THE TIME. Cost per wear is in the pennies already (because it’s a $48 bag to start with).

Van Cleef Mini Frivole Earrings. I feel like I’m repeating myself. Is it super blogger to keep saying, “I WEAR THESE ALL THE TIME”? But I do! So versatile, not too flashy, but with *some* glamour – adore these and if you’re looking for a pair of everyday wearable earrings that are very comfortable (with secure pushbacks) – I highly recommend these. When I travel, I usually am just wearing this pair.

Everlane Boss Boots. I’m sure you’ve seen these in a lot of posts. I really love my Everlane Day Boots and so got these as well so that I would have an option for rainier days. Actually if I had to only pick one baby, it would still be the Day Boots. But I got those in 2018 and the Boss Boots in 2019 and they are quite close in my heart.

Skincare honorable mention: Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream. This was a gift from a friend. I’m really waffling on recommending this because while I do love it, I also think it’s overpriced. I’m not sure if I would have ever tried it myself if I hadn’t been given it by someone who knows I’m skincare inept. That being said..when it runs out I’ll probably refill. Unless one of you can let me know of a great dupe, that is. There’s also a smaller version if you want to try it out. I don’t know. But my skin has been feeling great ever since using this.

Okay! These were some of my favorites of 2019 – what about YOURS?

Those earrings are a beautiful choice. I like how they are statement yet everyday at the same time. Sometimes I think it’s those unique pieces that can become the most timeless personal signatures. I bought 21 for my self-imposed 20 items for the year–but I did sell ones of those mistakes off–so I am now back down to 20.
My favorites are black Mango slides; H&M joggers–bought 2 pairs one for home, one for work; Banana Republic tortoise shell sunglasses.

Do you think the frivole necklace would make a good everyday necklace?

    P.S. I’m a Bader believer.

I do BUT it could bother you in your sleep – I’m not sure, haven’t tested – but just cause of the 3D nature of the petals. The Alhambra is flat so easier in that regard.

Hi Kat, please do share more about the Bader cream! I see it on insta so much but I keep thinking it is just because they get gifted the product nad have to say all these nice things.

I have the same Frivole earrings and love that they are understated and somewhat not so easily identifiable?

Happy holidays to you and the family!

Oh gosh. I don’t see it on IG but that would make it less interesting for me too. I do like it a LOT but I’m not sure if similar results could be found with a less expensive cream? Part of the issue is I don’t try too many new products so I don’t have a clear base of comparison. It IS really good in that I have dry skin and I feel moisturized throughout the day – Ialso get compliments on my skin while using it. BUT again I’m not sure if its just because my skin is hydrated in general with it. I’ll update!

The Bader cream is sold at Nordstorms. Last month it was discounted at 15% off. They had all different sizes.

I wonder if the Bader Body Cream is as good as the face cream. I heard the regular face cream is the best. The rich cream is drying..which is strange considering it is targeted for mature skin I think. Did you eliminate all other skin treatments (toner, moisturizer, etc) since Dr. Bader says this cream is all a person needs?

Interesting! I have the RICH which to me is quite moisturizing! I need to try the regular. I did not eliminate other treatments and sometimes layer some oil on top (Kiehls/Clarins) because I have super dry skin in winter.

Been eyeing the Lindy for a long time and never considered black until I saw it on you! Would you still recommend black after owning it for over a year or would you have picked another color if given a choice again?

I LOVE the Lindy and love it in black because it is sooo carefree. In fact it is shoved on the ground right now, next to a stack of dusty books. I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that in another color. That being said I would LOVE one in a color one day.
