1. I know all I’ve been posting lately are sandals but I keep finding nice, affordable, attractive options (which are comfortable!). And there seems to be quite a few of you who are constantly searching for options like me, so…presenting another great option, from Sam Edelman.
These I realize are kind of a knockoff of a classic Manolo Blahnik sandal (which I’ve tried to buy multiple times but can never get to fit me right). They’re a simple enough design where I don’t feel like the design inspiration is that bad, and to be honest I prefer the padding on the Edelman pair, plus I don’t worry about whether they’ll be destroyed in one season. This tan color is my favorite, for some reason the other options are croc embossed.
2. A fascinating and sad article from the WSJ – Wall Street Made Charles Murphy Successful and Rich, but Happiness Eluded Him. I’ve recommended this book before, but if you are interested in the article, I’d highly recommend The Wizard of Lies.
3. Okay I really want to know what you all think of Jeff Koons collection for Louis Vuitton. Please, please, tell me in the comments (or in email).
4. An interesting short little piece via The Hollywood Reporter, about Christine Chiu, a big couture buyer, and not wanting to buy sloppy seconds that were already worn by actresses. For these prices, I think that’s fair. What if you paid close to six figures for a dress and it ended up on someone you hated?
5. This week I read A Visit from the Goon Squad, by Jennifer Egan.
Goon Squad is one of those books I had purchased a long time ago, attempted briefly, and then stuck on my bookshelf. I had seen it dozens of times but always passed it by, since I assumed there was a reason I had stopped. But randomly this week I picked it up again, gave it another try, and loved it. Enjoyed it so much I’ve since ordered the rest of Jennifer Egan’s books. Recommended for anyone who enjoys fiction, who doesn’t mind many different points of view, time shifting in the narrative, and unresolved storylines. Honestly, I think this is the sort of book you either love or kind of hate, and there’s no way to know until you try it.

April 14, 2017 at 10:27 amThe bag is so tacky! Other than the epi leather line, I’ve already lost all my interests in LV, but this brings it to the next level.

April 14, 2017 at 11:43 amI could not believe this bag. How low will LV go?
It is even signed with Jeff’s initials and has that silly rabbit.
Besides Leonardo was from da Vinci, that was not his surname.

April 14, 2017 at 12:09 pmThe Jeff Koons line for LV is terrible. I know someone who wants 2 of the Neverfulls – I couldn’t believe it.

April 15, 2017 at 3:09 amI’m glad that LV is getting inspiration from street vendors in Bali that sells knockoffs. This bag will go so well with monogram-print track suits you can find off streets of Thailand.

April 15, 2017 at 2:10 pmNo. No, no, no.
The Koons collection isn’t just hideous, it’s a crime against art. LV got it so right a few years ago with their Vermeer inspired ads that I’m actually shocked they’d do this violence to the great masters.
In a word, the Koons collection is barbaric.

April 17, 2017 at 10:31 amIf you have the chance check out LV’s Core Values campaign.
I know this company can set standards in art direction, which makes the Koons debacle so much more painful.

April 15, 2017 at 7:54 pmJeff Koons is just so ugly. When i first saw them I thought i was a knock-off. It just makes no sense to me. So disapointed.

April 16, 2017 at 11:19 amHi Katherine,
I was never a huge fan of LV but this collection really is horrendous.
Enjoyed a good laugh while reading all the comments, xx

April 16, 2017 at 3:00 pmHi Katherine! I am so glad you are exploring lower priced options for something like sanders. I don’t think it’s necessary to spend top dollar for every item in our wardrobes. The Koons LV bag is ugly and tacky as far as I’m concerned.
