1. I saw this bag on a lady the other day in a different color combination, and had to ask her where it was from. When she said “Gucci,” I thought that it made total sense – this bag really reminds me of some of the last designs from Tom Ford for the house, but a bit more minimalist. Isn’t it lovely?
I don’t know if I’m just buying into recent hype (probably so), but lately I’ve been really liking quite a few Gucci items, especially the new ready to wear. Anybody else?
By the way – the Dionysus I have above keeps going in and out of stock at Net-A-Porter – you can also find the smaller version of this bag, the Testa, for $2400 at Neiman Marcus.
2. I subscribe to the paper version of the WSJ, which is why I’m always liking articles. What can I say – I’m a dinosaur and like flipping pages! Occasionally I’ll come across a little article I like so much that I rip it out and save it. This short and sweet interview with Carolina Herrera was one of them, I love that she has such strong opinions on everything from how to dress at the airport, to Swatch watches.
3. An interesting article from NY Mag, the title explains it all – The Unexpected, Exhilarating Freedom of Being Single at 41.
4. What’s the weather like where you are? I enjoyed this article via The NY Times about how its still too warm to wear a lot of fall fashion. Like someone quoted in the article, I too am waiting to pull out a new Mr and Mrs Furs parka – so far, all I’ve been able to wear from my winter stash has been some cashmere cardigans, which are easy to take off when the sun comes out here in California.
5. I feel like I’m falling further and further behind in my reading. I’m about halfway through so far my latest book, The Orphan Master’s Son.
Orphan Master won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, which if I’m being honestly usually is more of a deterrent for me for books, than a selling point (what can I say – I like my writing with a bit of fluff!). Orphan Master, however, is a fiction set in modern day North Korea – which was interesting enough for me to give it a try, and so far it’s been quite good. The writing takes a little to get used to – it jumps around a bit, is a tiny bit hard to follow at times, and the narrators change – but the material and story is so interesting, that it works out. It been getting better and better the further along I get into it, so I’d recommend.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

November 20, 2015 at 9:23 amIt is hot where I live. The only winter items I have been able to wear so far……cashmere sweaters.
I have a new mink coat that is just sitting in the closet waiting to be worn. And for the ones to bash fur, don’t say a word….unless everything you have in your closet is plastic. ?

November 20, 2015 at 9:32 amI’m really loving the Gucci Soho Disco bag! What are your thoughts? Do you think it’s more of a ‘trendy’ item or one that has staying power?

November 20, 2015 at 11:21 amI’m really liking it too, I’ve been debating the same exact question. Did you know there are a few on sale on the Gucci website? 🙂

November 20, 2015 at 4:32 pmThanks for the link! The major selling points for me are 1) the bag is quite spacious 2) it can go with both casual/formal looks. But still undecided!

November 20, 2015 at 9:35 pmI wish the fall where I am (Utah) lasted longer! It has felt like winter for much of the past few weeks, and I am not ready to be wearing my down coat and layers just yet. I wish we still had 60-degree temps.

November 21, 2015 at 9:50 amI’m approximately where you are, so I don’t think it’s cold-cold yet either, but definitely warrants an extra layer of something actually warm now 🙂
Don’t know if I’d said before but I love your weekend updates! I may not have time to click all the links every time but there’s always something really interesting.

November 22, 2015 at 8:23 amHi, Katherine! I’ve been wanting a Mr. and Mrs. Furs jacket ever since I read your post about your first purchase with the mink lining (which for the life of me I can’t find). Can I ask which style is your new purchase? I’m looking at the longer version, but am having a hard time deciding if I should choose a classic fur color, or something fun.
