Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2014: My Picks

Usually on a Friday I post a weekend update, but since this Friday marks the start of Nordstroms’ official Anniversary Sale, I thought I would just do one massive sale update instead of my favorite picks. I am not a Nordstrom card holder but was able to accompany a friend when she did a preview awhile back – here were some of my favorites. This is one of my favorite sales of the year and I always feel confident ordering and trying out items due to Nordstroms’ amazing customer service.

I’ve started with my top ten favorite items – I expect to add more (and please share your favorites from this sale in the comments as well).Enjoy and happy shopping!

The Chloe Marcie Bag: $1323

One of my favorite bags ever and so versatile and easy to wear. A perfect comfortable shoulder bag and the front flap is a great feature. I love all the colors too, super classic. Hop on this one fast as I’m sure they will sell out (though restocks will probably happen). 40% off.

Zella Leggings: $34

Simply put, in my opinion, the best leggings ever. I buy a pair every single year. So comfortable and great quality. Love, love, love.

Diptyque “Baies & Figuier” Candle set, $120

This was one of my favorite purchases from the Anniversary Sale last year, and I already picked up another set as a gift. The candle snuffer and the wick trimmer are both high quality and so luxurious to use. Plus, both Baies and Figuier are classic scents that almost everybody will love.

Barefoot Dreams Cardigan, $60

Sorry for the picture of the lady in her underwear, it was the only one I could find. This cardigan must be felt to be believed. So comfortable and cozy and you can wear it out too, not just at home in your lingerie. The perfect “throw on” piece that you could keep at home, in the office for when it’s cold, anywhere. Totally that go-to comfortable piece. They have been restocking so if your size isn’t there, check back.

Nike “Free” Training Shoe, $67

Super comfortable, super light, and perfect for a non-exerciser like myself for those rare occasions I venture over to the gym. Both fun and classic colors – if you don’t have a pair of trainers, I’d recommend these. At least you’ll feel like you’re a step closer to exercising!

_8999605

Yves Saint Laurent “Essential” Collection, $75

Has all my favorite YSL beauty products including my ultimate favorite “Touche Eclat” (none of the dupes have worked for me), and a gorgeous shade of YSL’s “Glossy Stain”. The little makeup bag is also adorable.

_9070106

Longchamp Leather Shoulder Bag, $225

I love this bag for anyone looking for a high quality, full leather shoulder bag that can be used for both day and night. I think it’s the perfect size for most occasions, and it comes in an array of beautiful colors. One of my favorite bags that Longchamp has ever done – super practical size, material, colors, everything! And unlike the nylon versions, these have interior zip and cell phone pockets. Double the price of the nylon version for full leather. I’m a big fan!

_9291919

Frye “Shirley” Boot, $320

I love Frye boots. Great quality and are the kinds of boots that can be brought back to life wonderfully by your cobbler and that will last you for years. I like the “Shirley” style because it’s very flattering with skirts and pants alike, and the top can even be folded down. A classic for fall and winter.

Nordstrom Round CZ Stud Earrings, $30

I’ve written before about how much I love these earrings. The price is fantastic and even if you already own real diamond studs, these are a great backup pair for travel, etc.

_9027089

Trouve Textured Stripe Sweater, $50

I adore my Trouve sweaters. I have two and wear them all the time in the fall and winter. They’re super light and the perfect length I find to wear with both jeans and leggings. They’re one of those rare pieces that I wear both to work and also on the plane as my “comfortable travel gear”. Highly recommended if you love light comfortable layers that still look presentable. I love the little stripe textured pattern on this year’s version.

Whew! All right – those were my top ten picks from this year’s Anniversary Sale. As I mentioned earlier, I’ll probably be adding more…and I’d really love to hear your recommendations for both go’s and no-go’s in the comments. Have a wonderful weekend!

I got the Barefoot Dreams cardigan – very cozy! I also bought a pair of Frye boots – the short ones without a zipper…have to try them on a few more times before I decide for sure.

Katherine, I blame you for my impulse purchase this morning. I have been considering the Marcie satchel version for a while, saw this, and bought it immediately. It’s not a crossbody, it’s not in a bright color, and it’s probably going to be on the heavier side, but I am looking forward to my package nonetheless!

Try it! Let me know how you like it 🙂 You can always take it back too, Nordstrom is great about that. Lucky you because I think they are all sold out!

Love your picks – in my multiple sale sweeps, I’d missed those earrings and I need a pair so badly right now! My secret pick of the year is the Alice and Olivia striped convertible cardigan!

I went to the early access sale and I bought quite a few items that I can’t wait to wear and some am already using.

Already being utilized are: Jimmy Choo ‘Marine’ 59mm Sun Glasses (nice, round, large sunnies that doesn’t overwhelm my face), Zella ‘Live In – Triple Play Horizon’ Colorblock Capris in both Teal Lapis and Dark Grey Slate, Zella ‘Live In – Streamline’ Reversible Mesh Inset Capris, Zella ‘Live In’ Cross Dye Capris in Blue Vivid, Zella ‘Easy’ Hooded Top in Navy Eclipse … (I actually work out at the gym and all my Zellas are so comfy and flattering when doing squats!), Clarins ‘Total Eye Concentrate’ Duo, CLARISONIC ‘The Oasis Collection’ Replacement Brush Heads for Sensitive Skin (love the zig zag Missoni-like pouch), Jo Malone™ Cologne Collection (great for my purse and traveling, sold out as usual).

Dying to be worn: Aquatalia by Marvin K .’Obsession’ Tall Boot (weather proof, made in Italy and PERFECT for my small calves), Current/Elliott ‘The Stiletto’ Skinny Jeans in Alumni (fits perfectly, are flattering and already sold out!), Vince ‘Bowen’ Suede Slip-On Sneaker in Black (obsessed w slip on sneakers and these are super comfy!), BP. Tassel Open Knit Infinity Scarf, Longchamp ‘Le Pliage’ Expandable Tote in Slate (a Nordstrom Exclusive every year, sold out), PJ Salvage pajama set and pants, Kenneth Cole New York Faux Fur Jacket (it’s like wearing your favorite plush teddy bear!), Rebecca Minkoff ‘Erin – Nordy Girl’ Leather Pouch (hey, I am a Nordy Girl) and the Mcginn ‘Tania’ Embellished Houndstooth Tweed Jacket … in alterations as we speak.

Since the first day of Early Access, I’ve gone back or went on line for these: Steve Madden ‘Ecntrc-c’ Snake-Embossed Slip-On Sneaker in Natural Snake (slip on sneakers rule my feet right now), butter LONDON ‘Funfair Fashion’ Nail Lacquer Collection (recommended by a friend and they are just my size, MINI!!), Voluspa ‘Maison Blanc’ Travel Tin Candle Trio.

Thanks for letting me share my #nsale haul. It’s therapeutic writing down what I bought and thinking about how much I’ve spent. I am going to go and cry now, but with a satisfied smile.

Hi, Can you tell which color you would recommend for the Barefoot Dreams cardigan? Also, what is the fit like for the Trouve sweater? Is it very boxy? Thanks for your recommendations!!

I personally liked the cocoa/white but all are very pretty and versatile colors. The Trouve sweater does fit looser as do most of their sweaters – I would call it “boyfriend oversized”. If you like things fitted I would recommend sizing down!

I’ve been searching for some quality leggings that are opaque. Thanks for recommending the Zella Leggings! They are perfect! I wish they had a deep maroon color too for the fall but the black and navy blue will be nice additions to my fall wardrobe.
