Solvang, California

Hi from London! I can’t wait to share all the photos we’ve had so far on this European vacation, but I wanted to share some photographs from a little trip we took a few weeks ago to the charming city of Solvang, California. Solvang is probably thirty minutes from Santa Barbara downtown. We were only there for 24 hours but had such a great time, we are already planning our next trip back!
So for dinner the first night, Mr. Feather and I ate at a yummy restaurant called The Hitching Post that we happened to drive by – the steak was so delicious as was the grilled artichoke. We didn’t realize it as both of us have never seen the movie, but apparently it’s where some of Sideways was filmed. We soon realized after sitting down that probably 75% of the patrons were there because of Sideways, all the convos around us were about the movie:
Restaurant eater: “So…this is where Sideways was filmed?”
Waitress: “Yes, it is.”
Restaurant eater: “Was it cool…..having Sideways here?”
Waitress: “Yes…”
Nonstop! But I guess the staff is used to it.
So the next morning, Mr. Feather and I went to go try out one of the “best pancake places in Southern California.” He was freaked out that there would be a wait so he dragged my grumpy butt here at 7:30 AM in the morning. 7:30!!

Ohhhhhhh the breakfast was so good. I had seconds of the pancakes! I never have seconds. AMAZING. They were very thin, almost like crepes, with fresh fruit on top. If you are in the area I highly recommend Paula’s Pancakes!
So on the way back from Paula’s I saw this sign below…and I had to go. I animals and adore visiting zoos wherever I am. Ostrich Land? STOP THE CAR!
It was $6 for each person for entrance and a bowl of feed for the ostriches and emus.
I was scared! They were all taller than me and the sign said they liked to bite…I closed my eyes when I got close..not sure what I thought that would accomplish. It was also raining.
It was so fun though! I LOVED feeding the ostriches. Such a fantastic experience…and I have to be honest, I may not ever be able to get an ostrich bag now…. Ostrich Land has made me grow a conscience for these birds.
We had such a fabulous time in Solvang and I would heartedly recommend the lovely city to anybody. Have a great Friday, everyone!

Oh my, ostriches! I don't think I've ever seen an ostrich in person. I'm actually just here for pancakes. I'd probably have THIRDS of that if I could, it looks so delicious…

Hahahaha Ostrich Land! That's freaking amazing, haha. I love this post, those pancakes look scrumptous and that Sideways bit is too funny. Also, I have to agree with everyone above, you're so pretty and you should show us that pretty face more often! If you feel comfortable doing so, that is. 🙂

And BTW – I agree with everyone. You look good without sunglasses and should do more outfit posts without them! :))

    Have a safe trip back!

Haha, I LOLed at your having your eyes closed and not sure what that would accomplish. Ummm… maybe so you don't have to see them in case they come and bite your face off? 🙂
