I just received a new camera – woohoo! I love my iPhone camera but it doesn’t work for all situations and my old Canon point and shoot is pretty useless. I have been driving my photography friends crazy the last few days because these were the parameters for my next ideal camera:
- Takes professional grade photos
- Fits into a clutch
- Is as cheap as humanly possible
Olympus E-PL2 Micro Four Thirds Camera (I don’t know what any of that means)
Unfortunately, as was explained to me by several exasperated photography nerds, my demands were highly unreasonable. So of course in the end I had to compromise on all three of my requirements but I got my camera – an Olympus which is supposed to be in between a DSLR and point and shoot. Are you looking forward to the end of my reign of fuzzy photography terror? Hopefully I’ll have clearer photographs to share with you all soon but I suspect I’ll be a slow student… Which camera(s) do you all have?

April 22, 2011 at 1:40 pmOoh, great!! Excited to see how the pics turn out, let us know when you start using it! I'm actually on the hunt for a new camera, too–I've been using my parents' DSLR, and they are getting annoyed!
I wanted the Nikon D3100 (I don't know what that means, either, but my photo friends drooled over it).
That ones looks AWESOME though! Excited to see how it turns out!! And the chanel jacket analogy made me laugh 🙂

April 22, 2011 at 1:48 pmI had the same thoughts when looking for a new camera! I ended up with a Panasonic GF1, which is a step up from a point and shoot but not quite a DSLR.

April 22, 2011 at 2:15 pmI was *just* searching amazon for a new point-and-shoot. Mine is so pathetic and old. I use a Nikon D60 for blog photos but I'm desperate for something more portable.

April 22, 2011 at 2:19 pmAh I LOOOOOVE your ring! Love your new camera! I have an HP Photosmart camera. It was one of those Walmart Black Friday special for $88 about 6 yrs ago! Hubs lovingly went w/ me at 5 a.m. to get it. However, it is dying so I desparately need a new one! 🙂

April 22, 2011 at 3:27 pmi so need a new camera! i broke a tiny piece off my cannon and it costs more to fix it than a new camera (which is ridiculous!). i really want the canon rebel t21.

April 22, 2011 at 4:36 pmI recently purchased my own little gem, the Canon Rebel T3i (18.1 megapixels O.O)
and I'm SO GLAD that I finally bought it. It's slightly bulky, but I like how big it is, for easy point and shoot, I usually just pull out my phone anyways 😉
Cheers~

April 22, 2011 at 5:12 pmI have a regular Canon point and shoot that I use for regular snapshots but my bf takes my outfit pictures with his Nikon D90. I try and use it sometimes but I don't know how. Photography eludes me! Looking forward to seeing some photos from you soon 😉

April 22, 2011 at 6:17 pmI have a Nikon SLR, and I love it! Only problem is it's big and bulky so it limits what you can carry it in! You might get addicted to photography now that you have a great camera, watch out!

April 22, 2011 at 7:07 pmUgh! The frustration of having a point and shoot camera. I am also in the market for a new camera, but can't decide what to get, but also, would rather spend my $$$ on clothes and bags! I am taking a photography class this summer and must have my camera before than. Let us know what you think of your new camera.

April 23, 2011 at 4:15 amFancy camera..ooOOh! I have two, a Nikon D90 DSLR and a 2 year old Canon point and shoot. I take the point and shoot with me everywhere, but my Nikon only for special outings. But now, you got me thinking about a tweener camera too…then I don't have to lug my SLR for the extra crisp shots. =)

April 23, 2011 at 8:07 amHey, I have a Nikon Coolpix L110, it isn't really professional but it looks like one :P!! It is so big and carrying it is a little annoying :P, hugs

April 24, 2011 at 10:21 amIs it a bridge camera? That's what they call ones that are in between a point and shoot and DSLR. I have a bridge camera too, it's perfect because it takes great quality photos, but it is alot easier to use than a DSLR!
Hope you love using the camera 🙂

April 24, 2011 at 6:34 pmOooh I'm drooling! I especially like that it's small enough to fit in your purse! I think that was the number one reason I went with a point and shoot. My boyfriend said (when I complain that I should have bought a better camera) that "the only good camera is the one you have with you!". So I'm cool with a camera that fits in my clutch for now!

April 29, 2011 at 3:59 pmAhhh late to this post but I have a micro four-thirds camera too (Panasonic GF1) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It takes such great pics and because it's so compact, I carry it w/ me everywhere. I honestly don't even use my DSLR anymore. I'm so excited to see more pics on your blog!! 🙂
