Weekend Update

1. Today, sharing some athleisure – these tie pants from Zella.

So I know I made a vow for natural fabric, but I exclude leggings from this (and get great usage) and I think these Zella pants fall into this category. I don’t wear leggings when I fly anymore – I wear silk pants from Elizabeth Suzann mostly however I recognize these are pricey and they only return for store credit so presenting another option. I love the design of these Zellas – the elastic waistband, the little slit at the bottom – and they are so chic. If you haven’t been wearing loose pants for comfort, give these a try!

2. A powerful piece from Lynn Steger Strong via The Cut, The Same Story About My Mom.

3. Love this piece from Glamour which I haven’t read in a long time (!!) on Danielle Steel. Do you ever follow the Traina sisters (Samantha, Vanessa, Victoria)? They are so glam and I love that their mother is a workaholic and that she spends her fleeting free hours shopping? If you check out the hashtag #dsisthebest on Instagram you can see some lovely photos in testament.

4. A piece via The NY Times about how many Americans that will need long term care won’t be able to afford it. This topic fascinates me, partially because I saw what my own father went through for a very short period.

5. This week I read The Man Who Owns The News, by Michael Wolff.

I am very interested in anything Murdoch related, so this has been on my list for a while – published in 2008, so missing quite a bit of uh…Fox News’ role in the universe since then, and if you’re looking for juicy Murdoch divorce gossip, move along. The book is a fascinating look at a media titan however – what motivated him, how he built his empire. Something else that I found interesting was actually the author, Michael Wolff, who I knew only because he wrote Fire and Fury. I knew nothing about Wolff and just kind of assumed he was some National Enquirer sort but this book shows the depth of his connections, how long Wolff has been operating in this universe (and he actually a good writer). If you’re a Murdoch enthusiast, and want to learn about the history of modern media, I recommend The Man Who Owns The News.

Love the Zella pants, but I wonder if they’re an okay length for petites?

Given my family history and the fact that I have an APOE4 gene, I have planned for long-term care. The whole idea is daunting, but I prefer to deal with reality head-on…..

We have long term care insurance for PiC but haven’t found an affordable plan for me. I have to hope that we’ll come up with some reasonable option since hoping I don’t need it is a terrible non-plan.
