Who Do You Stalk?

Where do you all get your fashion inspiration these days? I know it sounds terribly ironic given that I have a blog myself, but to be honest I don’t necessarily get my inspiration from that many blogs these days. And almost never from magazines, because I am not a Texas oil magnate. Instead I periodically stalk a few people, and almost always on Instagram. Actually (and this is how fuddy duddy I am) my favorite way to check out my stalkees, style wise, is to access the IG pages on my laptop, so that I can quickly scroll through a bunch of photos.

I have learned that even if you admire someone’s style, they may not post all the photos you’d like of their day to day outfits (which is what I’m most interested in) on IG – a great example is Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert, and I follow her to check out her fabulous life, but its not necessarily the best resource for outfits. Here are some of my favorite outfit posters  – please, please, share yours! I would love more inspiration!

Reina Hoshi – I love this girl even though I don’t know what she does. She has 350K followers though so is she famous in Japan? Or is she famous because she has a great Instagram? I’m not sure. The only problem I have with her is that she kind of seems like she’d be my height, so I always think I can pull off all her looks, but I think she is way taller, with longer legs (sigh). Also a lot of her stuff is only from Japanese stores. But a lot of her outfits are easily emulated with simple pieces, which I love.

Jacey Duprie – I like that she mostly wears neutrals, and a lot of black and white. Most of her pieces are simple and clean, easy to both admire and try to emulate. She also does a good high/low mix in her wardrobe (of course lots of high, but also the occasional Madewell piece, etc).

Frances Kwon – Frances is one of my favorites. Except that she is much cooler than I have ever been and as such, many of her outfits are not appropriate for my Mommy and Me lifestyle. She really has excellent taste in choosing unique and flattering items (the outfit above is my favorite, especially the yellow Dries pants) and she possesses the always super combination of not really doing sponsored posts, so she really is wearing/buying whatever she wants + sweet clothing budget.

Bababebi – You might recognize her name from Hermes on The Purse Forum, since Bababebi runs one of the most respected Hermes authentication services. Given her expertise she has a lot of beautiful pieces herself, and I really like that she has such a clean palette (a lot of grays, blacks, and whites).

Marlien Rentmeester – Marlien is based in LA and thus a lot of her clothes, even in winter, are a bit on the “resort” side, which I personally love. She has a great eye for flattering dresses especially, and I’ve bought a few that I’ve seen on her. She usually buys quite a few pieces each season and posts how she wears them pretty fast, helpful when you want to get something for yourself!

Okay…now, please tell me who you stalk!

Japanese fashion blogger Reina Hoshi is a mother of two, but her fashion sense never went out of style. Her outfits are simply amazing, timeless and classic.

    – Bagsnob (Tina Craig), she can pull of anything and I wanna be like her when I grow up 😉
    – Chanello (Jessica Hon), so often she makes me laugh out loud with her outfit descriptions “what to wear on a date…”
    – theclassycloud (Ji Kim), she’s a Lufthansa flight attendant and doing a lot of collabs but puts so much effort into her photos and I just enjoy scrolling her Instagram
    – jincloset (Raon) – NO idea what she’s doing or whether she is famous in South Korea, she has more than 10k followers and seems to hang out in Seoul’s department stores every day. Love her sophisticated but effortless elegance!
    – stina_chauvet – quite possibly following her ever since I’ve discovered blogs and stuff. I remember ages ago you posted an interview with her on your blog here… love her style and family life!

I love Frances’s edgy and cool style too! But for the past year if not more, I’ve been obsessed with Queenie of BB10LUE and stalk her instagram for inspiration!

I follow @jeanwang on IG. She is petite (and much younger!!), so some of her cuter outfits I cannot pull of. But she also has a lot of simple yet with some very nice twist styles that are stylish and work-place friendly which I really love.

I love @lindavwright on IG. She owns a Paris cashmere store called Crimson. I loved her style for ages. I love her ability to look current, French, and simple all at the same time.

Hahahaha this post is great. I also admire Giovanna, but her outfits are not practical for me. Fun fact, my husband sold her husband, Oscar Englebert a motorcycle 🙂

Hi Katherine! I always refer to my style icons, bloggers, street style , and fashion magazines. Bloggers I like because many of them introduce me to brands I haven’t seen! Thank you for sharing the bloggers you follow. I just followed Jacey and Frances . I also really like how the French fashion editors dress. Have a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!

reina hoshi is a model for the famous japanese magazine, Classy. The target audience is the real life 25+ career woman, or as they say it, office lady. I guess her pictures are mostly preofessionally staged to look like everyday casual blog posts.

Style By Aggie – Australian lawyer with over a 100k followers. Fun bags, clean somewhat androgynous look – everything she wears you can wear for work, with a twist! Love how she pulls of ankle boots with everything.
