Sale PSA: Shopbop’s annual F&F sale has begun, for up to 30% off with code MAINEVENT16. There are some restrictions, but much less than with other sales. My picks include the always popular Acne Canada scarf, now in super soft cashmere, parkas from Mr. and Mrs. Italy (so hard to find on sale otherwise), Sorel boots, and this adorable Paul & Joe peeking kitty tote.
A great cream Rag & Bone sleeveless top with black edging, now under $90, a lovely and warm toggle cape jacket from J.Crew, now 30% with free shipping for today only with code YESPLEASE, an adorable business card holder from Kate Spade, now under $23 (I have a thing for business card holders), and black lace up sandals from Sam Edelman, now under $100 (these have great reviews, which you can read here).
Here are a few favorites I’ve picked up/tried out lately, which I just realized all happen to be black.
By far my favorite purchase lately as been this black ASTR dress. And, it’s now on sale for under $50 (I like this dress so much that I’ve considered buying a backup, but don’t want to be excessive).
This ASTR dress is not only super pretty, but also extremely comfortable – the under layer is stretchy and not confining, and of course the chiffon upper layer floats like a breeze. Since buying this dress, I’ve already worn it out multiple times – I keep going back to it, because it’s so easy to wear and accessorize.
Each side has side slits that make it a bit more fun. Highly recommended if you want a comfortable, sexy, and affordable dress for evening! Oh, and a bonus – you can wear a regular bra under it!
I recommended this Trouve top in an earlier weekend update, and finally got the time to take a picture of it on for those curious about it. I like this top a lot – it’s a great option for evening drinks/dinner, though the side slits do make it a bit more difficult to wear to work. By the way, I’m wearing this with a J.Crew leather skirt that I bought last year and which they’ve brought back for this season.
Finally, I’d eyed this Free People dress for quite some time and finally took the plunge. I love Free People items in general, but sometimes I find that the quality just doesn’t match up to the price (I tend to buy FP at Nordstrom for this reason, so I won’t have any hassles if say, a top gets holes in it after one wash). This dress has nicely survived multiple washes, and is comfortable, easy to wear, and so pretty. It is sheer though, so you’ll need a slip. The Free People slip I paired with it is from a few years ago, but this is another great skirt/slip option, I like the effect of a little lace peeking through underneath the skirt!
