I was recently asked to recommend some denim shorts, a task I feel eminently qualified to do as in the summer I basically live in these things. My favorite long time pair are cuffed shorts that I converted into cut offs myself from Seven.
The current version of the Sevens are here. However, I’m not sure if I would really recommend paying over $100 or even $60 for cut off shorts. Mine are my favorite probably because I’ve just had them for so long, and they’ve gone through so many alterations and washes that now they’re like an old friend – one of those “comfort” items in your closet. Instead, what I would recommend for someone looking for cut offs? These Levi’s 501 pairs.
These jean shorts are super classic (who knows more about denim than Levi’s?), and the perfect length and rise. They were super comfortable, to boot. Actually perhaps a little too comfortable. I always go a size larger with jean shorts as I like them to be a little loose and more comfortable – however, these ended up being a smidgen too big for comfort. I’m in the process of exchanging for a size down. The best part? The price! All two pairs that I show are on sale for $40 (along with a great distressed gray color). You can find the light wash pair, the darker wash pair, and gray wash pair (not shown above), all less than $40, linked accordingly!
Here’s some more denim cut off inspiration – Miranda Kerr, Jennifer Aniston, and Kate Moss (who I always try to include in every inspiration post!).
What are your favorite denim cut offs? And how long have you had them?
