Here are some of the items and bits of reading/watching that I’ve been enjoying. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
1. How beautiful, beautiful, is this Bottega Veneta snakeskin knot?
I love it, so very, very much. I think it is the perfect spring/summer clutch….as well as year round. And even though I hold a special torch in my heart for Hermes, I still think that Bottega offers better evening options. I wear my leather studded Knot all the time, and it makes going out to even a casual dinner feel a little more special.
At $2400 this Knot is priced a little more than other leather versions. Now at the top of my wish list!
2. Now, on the topic of prices of luxury items….I enjoyed this little read on The Business of Fashion, about how luxury prices have far outpaced inflation over the last decade. I think that 65% gross margin number even seems quite low…depending on what gets rolled into “product development!”.
3. I know that I’ve posted mega long Vanity Fair articles going on three weeks in a row now, but I’m so glad that so many of you enjoy them, and I still have more to share! This is another long article from VF, but from years back (2009). It details the rise and fall of the so-called “Clark Rockefeller” – a con-man who posed as many identifies, including a Rockefeller, over the course of decades. A fascinating read for anybody interested in true crime..or just interesting stores in general!
4. Next week is the start of Season 2 of the amazing show Orphan Black, so I just have to give a quick recommendation here for the fantastic first season of the show. I’ve linked to the first season DVD, but if you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can stream for free!
If you were ever a fan of Alias (before the crazy late season storylines) or even Buffy, you will love Orphan Black. I don’t think you have to be a sci-fi lover, however. It’s just a fun, well done and very addicting show, and a few episodes in you will be in awe at the acting goddess that is Tatiana Maslany. Enjoy!

March 28, 2014 at 11:55 amHello, Katherine,
Firstly, a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY on this wonderful blog!
I’ve been a bit busy for a few months now and have been remiss in my commenting but wanted to say how much I have been enjoying your posts, as always, and how delicious it was to read your VF links!
I hope you have been well (from everything I have been reading it looks so!) and wish you MANY more years of happy, intrigue-filled, travel-filled, Bottega-and-Hermes-filled blogging (ps your Roulis is gorgeous!)!!
Best,
Ava

March 29, 2014 at 9:26 pmI must confess I truly enjoy your intellectual discussions and article links but it is the bags, scarves, and jewelry that grab my attention first. I share you love of the BV knot and have always toyed with the idea if an exotic. i wish hubs and i still go out at all so that i have an excuse to take mine out to some place besides the car wash. Please let us know if you get yours and how you like it, etc.
