Weekend Update

1. This weekend, I’d like to publicize a call for help! The weather warmed up dramatically this week, and I’ve started looking for a pair of great pair of summer sandals that I can walk around for extended periods in. I found a pair that I loved almost two years ago, and they’re now getting a little ratty.

So far the candidates are the two above – one from Stuart Weitzman (but at $340 pricey for a miles upon miles walking cork sandal), and this Franco Sarto in tan – on super sale for under $40. I’ve ordered the latter, but am still looking for more options. So if you have any summer sandals you could recommend that have just a bit of a wedge heel (I find them more comfortable than completely flat ones) – please share!

2. Most of these are pretty well known, but I thought this round up of 11 common themes amongst the “insanely stylish”, via WhoWhatWear, was a good reminder and a quick read.

3. I have always been fascinated by the story of Wendi Deng and Rupert Murdoch (articles about them are right up there along with the Daily Mail for my favorite morning reads). I found this article, newly available online in its entirety in Vanity Fair, to be an engrossing read covering the rise and fall of their relationship, and perhaps the woman. For those who like long, gossipy reads over a cup of tea.

4. I’ve mentioned a few times how much I love my five year journal on my blog, and I continue to give it as gifts to just about everybody.

I wanted to share a new favorite discovery of mine – also a five year journal, but called Q and A a Day.

Q&A

It has the same five year format, but asks you to answer a different question each day of the year. What’s cool is that you can see how you were answering the same question in previous years…and track your progress!

Q&A 21st

I’ve already started to use mine but am afraid how I will pack all these journals on my trips. I can’t wait until I reach a year and can look back at old entries.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I use that same Q&A journal! I just started this year and so far I really like it. Some of the questions are not that great but I think it will be fun to look back and see how my answers change over the years.

I bought these Prada wedges. They pinch my big toe but I think they’ll be broken in over time.

I like the journal idea to track our evolution and growth.

Love the idea of the q&a journal, think I’ll pick me up one. Thanks for the recommendation! Maybe it’ll bring me back to my teenage years of keeping daily journals.

Suffice it to say that only a strong woman like her can take that kind of publicity!

Agreed – especially those notes! I would crawl into a hole and not come out for many months at the least.

I like those Franco Sartos and have had good experience walking around NY on the weekends with a similar pair from them that I purchased last summer. I also recommend the Sam Edelman Trina. I like to spend on boots and heels, but not so much on sandals, as I find I beat them up.

Second on the Trina. I just ordered – cute with the gold heel and super comfortable!

I beat mine up too! I tried the Trinas last year but they didn’t work for me…maybe I should take a second look?

They weren’t super comfy for me right away, I had to break them in a bit first. What did you experience?

    Hello Karen,

Popping by again to let you know that Andre Assous sandals are very comfortable and in a very reasonable price range. My colleague is on her feet all day between eight to ten hours and these have proven to be the ones for her. As well, you are both around the same stature so I imagine they may be a good fit for you as well. I have tried them on and they have been very comfortable.

They also have reasonable deals for them on Amazon:

    Best,

    Celina
