Thanksgiving 2013

Happy Thanksgiving for those of you celebrating in the United States and all over the world! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday week.

I am posting from Budapest where Mr. Feather is originally from – his grandmother still lives here and we visited her earlier today! The food is so delicious and I am gaining even more weight from what I already added earlier in Paris. It’s terrible, and I’m just thankful I packed pants that have some give. A few preview photos I borrowed from my Instagram:

The view from our hotel room in Paris – gorgeous little balcony!

And our view here in Budapest, of the wonderful Chain Bridge and Palace. I think really think this is the best view in the city and I am really looking forward to sharing a review of our hotel with you all!

A bunch of sales seems to have already kicked off and although I am in Europe, I have been doing a bit of early holiday shopping so I am already expecting some boxes for when we arrive home. Here are a few of my picks, and I’ll keep updating throughout the week if possible.

Net-A-Porter:

This sale speaks for itself, one of my favorite sites and their selection is amazing. Picks:

This awesome IRO shearling jacket – our hotel was very close to IRO in Paris and I drooled over this jacket every day in the window.
Charlotte Olympia leopard pumps with a little bow – a nice height for work, a classic print and shape but still a little fun!
A cozy and very Parisian Chinti and Parker sweater with a little statement of color, cashmere and 50% off!

Saks:

A fabulous Thanksgiving sale that I am currently shopping while my husband waits impatiently to go down for breakfast! My selections:

A classic and easy to wear fall/winter peacoat from Vince, I love the mulberry color and it’s under $400!
This cropped leather moto jacket in a great silhouette, basically 50% off.
Blahnik BB pumps in a lovely patent steel on sale, quite a rare occurrence for a classic color and shoe. A very versatile formal shoe.

Nordstrom:

A lot of items I’ve had on my list are on markdown but on undercover mode still, no announcement on some items of an official sale as of this morning.

A super cozy cashmere sweater cape that I think would be very warm and chic over a long sleeved shirt….and 40% off!
Super classic black pumps via Prada with just a bit of a platform. Around 35% off, I think I will try a pair as a potential backup to my favorite Louboutin Simples.
A Burberry quilted jacket in a variety of versatile colors at 25% off – blue, black and olive.

J.Crew:

30% off everything with the code HOLIDAY + free shipping over $150:

This cashmere pullover hoodie – I tried to wait for a code on this item last year and it ended up selling out in the colors I wanted!
A very cute graphic tee – I have the earlier version with different words for “kiss” and with this one you won’t get occasional random winks on the metro.
This very warm and chic sherpa lined parka which I think is perfect on the weekend, casual days, etc. The winter version of the casual field jackets that I love.

Shopbop:

Kicked off their holiday F&F sale with an additional 15-25% off anything on their site with code BIGEVENT13. My picks:

This excellent Annabel Ingall tote, super chic, great colors and a decent price. More colors and sizes too, here.
These Stuart Weitzman boots – so flattering especially with the little heel! And almost always excluded from F&F sales.
super warm parka from Canada Goose. I am in Europe right now and thus now fully convinced that a chic down parka should always be on hand in your closet!

Happy holidays and everybody stay warm please!

It’s very cold this week but THANK GOODNESS that there is sunshine;))) The Christmas market is spectacular & full of great atmosphere. We love to walk around the market, drink the vin chaud & then head off to a nice restaurant for dinner. I am here right now so don’t hesitate to send me a message if you have any questions:)

    Hi Katherine,

I was there in october on a love trip, it really is the eastern europes Paris! My favourites stores for you and everybody else whos visiting Budapest is “Il bacio di stile”, a mini temple with all the high fashion brands in different floors. And also the the multibrand store Capsula. They both are in the street Andrassy utca.
Heaven is also a fantastic store with fantastic high fashion brands, it´s on a side street to Vaci Utca. To eat I recommend Nobu in The Kempinski hotel and also a fantastic italian restaurant called Trattoria Pomo D Òro on Arany Janos utca. A must to visit is the famous Gellerts Spa on the Buda side of the city with both outdoor and inside pools. Have a great vacation! 🙂

    Kind regards
    Linda, Stockholm (Sweden)

You should def give Ruszwurm a try. It’s an amazing pastry shop in the castle region, some of the best I’ve had:)

Thanks for the beautiful photos, Katherine. Paris is so exquisite, I have so many wonderful memories there, and I look forward to getting to Prague someday, but look forward to your photos meantime. And, BTW, is it me, or does Mr Feather get more intriguing by the minute. Hopefully, a how-we-met article is in the future. One of Sf’s most interesting couples is flying under the radar, I think…. 🙂

Thanks Trey and I hope you get to Prague soon, another beautiful city and you’ll be used to the colder weather too, unlike me 🙂
