As soon as I get home each day from work (assuming I have no other outside plans for the night), I go straight to my room and change into pajamas. For some reason, while I am perfectly comfortable in my clothes when out and about during the day, as soon as I get home those very same jeans and dresses start to feel unbearably uncomfortable lounging on the couch. My penchant for sloppy dressing may come from my dad, who earned some level of infamy when I was younger for often dropping me off at school wearing an oversized rainbow striped robe with purple sweatpants underneath.
Anyway, my pajama habit meant that for the majority of our waking hours at home, I was clad in a variation of the same outfit, day in and day out – one of my husband’s oversized college t-shirts, paired with a pair of J.Crew gingham shorts. One of the most comfortable pairings out there, but perhaps not one of the most flattering or appealing. I decided finally to get my act together and find a pair of pajamas less likely to scare room service and the occasional UPS man – and after some searching, found an adorable set by Eberjey.
Eberjey Pajama Set (in a multitude of colors, here)
After a week of wearing these, I have to say – I love them! They are just as comfortable as my oversized tees, but way more presentable. I also like that they are short sleeved, with shorts. I love the traditional long pajama sets, but the pants are always way too long for me (and hemming them always gets rid of some cool detail) and for some reason I’ve never been able to sleep in long sleeves. Though if you are interested in a long sleeved/pants version, Ebejey has a version here.
In retrospect I wish I had taken the pajama plunge a lot earlier. I don’t blink at spending quite a bit more for “work” or “party” clothes that I wear a few times a month, if that – so for something that I wear for hours almost every day, I think these pajamas are a truly worthwhile purchase. It still makes me happy to put them on each day!
What are your favorite clothes to sleep and lounge in?

March 25, 2013 at 7:30 amThey look VERY stylish! (I’d never thought I’d say this about a pair of pajamas! lol) Did you get them in other colours too?
Personally, I wear velour or cotton tracksuits around the house, during wintertime, and short baby-doll type of dresses during summertime. Sometimes, when I’m staying at home all day, I even wear a pair of ballet flats (instead of slippers which I usually wear) to feel more “dressed up”. I try to looks as much presentable as I can when I’m staying home – got that from my mum, probably, who’s said to me, ever since I was a little child, that someone who consider themselves well groomed must look well groomed all day around.
There are times though that I just wanna put on my pajamas and relax doing nothing, especially when I come home after a busy day! So I get what you mean!

March 25, 2013 at 8:04 amErr I still wear your former outfit of my husband’s t-shirts and random shorts! My husband also loves changing immediately when he is home into “house clothes”.
I do love your Eberjey outfit though – so chic and more presentable if the UPS guy happens to pop by!

March 25, 2013 at 8:45 amThose are super cute! I feel the same way! If it were presentable to just walk around in jammies all day without judgement, I would.I love to wear cotton tees with shorts from F21 or A&F.

March 25, 2013 at 9:01 amThey are so lovely, but I’d have to save them for the hottest day of the year.
I wear grey sweats and a t shirt every single day at home, I love comfy clothes that feel snuggly and don’t nip anywhere.

March 25, 2013 at 10:07 amThose are super cute pajamas, I may have to get a pair! I usually sleep in a blue sweatshirt and running shorts. So not stylish but I would be ready to go if I went for a run in the morning, ha ha! I have been thinking about making a move to pjs and the pair you showed here may be the solution. If I buy a pair they should give you a cut! XO, Jill

March 25, 2013 at 10:46 amYes! My parents always had us dress in our pjs as soon as we came home from school, so we can be comfortable.

March 25, 2013 at 11:28 amI love Eberjey PJs! I have the long Gisele version in navy. They aren’t too long on me, FYI- I’m 5’5″. I need these short ones from summer!

March 25, 2013 at 2:41 pmOoh thank you for that Charlotte, I might have to try the long ones in the future (though you are still a good 4 inches taller than me!)

March 25, 2013 at 12:24 pmI’m still wearing the old/geek/comic t-shirt/shorts or ratty old sweatpants combination 🙂 The shabbiness of this only occurs to me when I’m going away and have to be seen in my jammies. I picked up a couple pj pants from Old Navy, I think it was, cheaply but haven’t gotten anything nicer than that. These are adorable, I might actually be persuaded to look for nicer jammies.

March 25, 2013 at 12:27 pmWow, those are seriously stylish pj’s. No matter how chilly the weather, I always feel more comfortable sleeping in shorts and a tee, so I will definitely be checking these out. Right now I usually lounge in yoga pants and an Out of Print tee, while I sleep in those cheerleading athletic shorts and random tees. Not exactly a chic look!

March 25, 2013 at 12:33 pmGive me those pajamas. I love the one piece style pajamas for just hanging out. I really want the adult footed onesie to use during the winter.

March 25, 2013 at 12:44 pmHi, Katherine! I love your blog – always find it to be very well-edited. I think these jammies are the best! I own a pair as well, and there is something to feeling somewhat put together while lounging around the house. I think they are incredibly comfortable, as well.

March 25, 2013 at 1:14 pmThose are adorable! When I am at home, I have to be wearing something comfy too. I usually reach for my Victoria’s Secret yoga pants.

March 25, 2013 at 3:45 pmI also change the moment I arrive at home, can’t stand hanging around in my “outer” wear 😉 but I do not wear PJs unless I’m going to sleep – I have tons of “home” and so called “lounge wear”, comfy pants and sweaters by Juicy Couture or By Marlene Birger, or old jumpers and Ts by Tommy Hilfiger I’ve had since I’m a teenie. I can’t wear PJs at home unless for sleeping as I don’t like the smell of food in it when I go to bed… sensitive nose I got 🙂
Katherine
March 25, 2013 at 9:43 pmMalene Birger loungewear sounds very, very chic!

March 25, 2013 at 6:56 pmIf I don’t have to go out, and I’m not working on anything that needs particular clothing at home, I’m usually lounging in a big fuzzy bathrobe (aka my uniform) 😀

March 25, 2013 at 9:43 pmA fuzzy bathrobe sounds wonderful!

March 26, 2013 at 3:29 amHow funny! It seems that most people actually change into loungewear or PJs the minute they get home. It’s fairly uncommon here where I live. I’m probably one of the very few with this apparently quirky habit. I don’t wear PJs but comfy tracks and sweatshirt. On my lazy days, I change into my more funky tracks and sweatshirt to go out 😛 Talk about being exceedingly lazy 😛

March 26, 2013 at 11:33 amYeah all the European transplants I know in the US are always perfectly clad at home, until they go to bed!

March 26, 2013 at 5:49 amCute pair! I am more of a PJ bottom paired with cotton stretchy tank top girl no matter where I am, hotel or home 🙂

March 26, 2013 at 8:42 amThese are certainly VERY cute! I like that you went with the shorts option.. makes it seem a little more feminine than long pants. I love the white trim. This would probably look fantastic in an oversized long-sleeve version!

March 29, 2013 at 11:19 amI am the EXACT same way about “real” clothes at home- they kill me! I need OUT of them immediately when I walk through the door. I have answered the door in some ratty old college sweats and I def think it’s time to invest in pj’s….
Karen
June 16, 2013 at 4:05 pmDo you really hand wash this pj set?
Katherine
June 16, 2013 at 7:14 pmNo – is that what is recommended? I just machine wash and it’s been okay so far.
