Valentine’s Day

As a former waitress who worked many a holiday shift, I’ve historically avoided going out on Valentine’s Day like the plague – too many bad memories of lackluster food and insane dinner services. Most of my fonder V-Day memories quite honestly involve my couch, DVDs of favorite Japanese horror movies and copious alcohol. Tonight though, my husband and I are going out to dinner at the restaurant where we had our first date. Hopefully since it’s a weekday it will be less of a madhouse.

The custom cards I ordered finally arrived last week and I was very excited to mail them! I love sweet animal photos, to the point where I’ve begun to receive complaints from friends about the frequency of my email forwards: “You’re like one of my crazy aunts who keeps emailing chain letters warning about cell phone radiation,” one of my bridesmaids complained. “Can you please stop sending things to my work email?” another dude requested, after my email titled “BEAR + CAT = LOVE” flashed across the screen courtesy of Microsoft Outlook while at a big meeting. Seriously, how can you resist Muschi and Maeuschen?

Because of my animal obsession, I couldn’t resist sending out this card this year:

Never thought I’d have a Valentine’s Day card inspired by Reddit, but come on – cute right? I made them on Tiny Prints, which was a pretty easy experience, although I couldn’t find any Valentine’s themed cards that I could customize to the extent I wanted to. Finally I had to use a baby themed card (the back of this actually says that it’s from a brand called “Hello Little One”).

Finally I’m not sure yet what I’m going to wear for dinner, but I think it’s going to a print or texture of some sort! Here are some candidates:

Happy Valentine’s Day! Are you staying in or going out?

Katherine, that card is so sweet. Have a great night out!
Staying in today; V-Day in NYC is killer with overpriced restaurants 🙂

That card is just too cute!!

I think you should wear the pink or the floral to be in keeping with the day.
I'm sadly not going out as my fiancee is thousands of miles away at the moment with work. So I think it'll just be a night of pampering for me instead!

    Happy Valentines Day hun!

Happy Valentine's! Love your sea otter cards. I adore sea otters. I want one!!!! I guess a stuffed animal would have to suffice.

We are going to try and find a restaurant on madness filled day. Hopefully we have good service and great food.

Can't wait to see your Valentine's day outfit.

I'm MAJORLY into celebrating Valentine's day – just not on the day itself – I think that's more for daters looking to impress each other – fixed price menus and crowds are NOT for me.

Hubby and I celebrated on Friday – went out for a Teppanyaki dinner followed by "The Woman in Black" – it was so scary and fun! Then on Sat hubby got me a lovely gift (Alexander McQueen Scarf) – am going to bake stuff for him and the kiddies today – and have some books to give him as his present 🙂

I'm the queen of forwarding cute pictures and animals to friends and family, much to their chagrin. But I figured one day, they'll message me "Why don't you send us emails anymore?", so until that day comes …

We decided to postpone our Valentine's Day extravaganza for Friday night instead. Between my bf operating and me working longer hours at the office, having dinner when we're both relaxed and ready to kick start the weekend sounded a lot more appealing. That comes with a price though. For not having to run out to buy me a bouquet of roses and dining around the city tonight, he'll be watching a cheesy flick of my choice on Friday. He just doesn't know it yet ;P

Enjoy your Valentine's Day! I'm sure you will look fabulous, as always. Cheers!

I love your Valentine's day card. I'm such a sucker for a nice card;)

Enjoy dinner with Mr. Feather. I'm all for embracing the spirit of the day, so I say go pink:)

I'm in the midst of NYFW. It always falls on Valentine's day, so we always end up postponing. He's accompanying me to a show tonight and by the time we're home we'll probably eat a late dinner in pjs (I love that). We're officially celebrating this weekend, which happens to be a three day weekend for both of us. I can't wait:)

    Enjoy your night!!!!

Happy V Day to you =)

I'm sure you had a great time with hubby. My bf and I avoided the usual V Day's set lunch/dinner. In fact we avoided every opportunity for others to rape our wallets. He cooked dinner and I bought a DVD to watch after that. We had a great time.

My bf and I stayed in for lunch (I made steak and potatoes) and went out for dinner (should have stayed in again hahaha). Loved going thru your blog. Lovely card! Very original. Me and my husband was in Paris for Valentine's, we ended up at a cheap Thai restaurant having a great meal and quiet time. I guess that's the bestway to have quiet moments during V Day. Hope you had a blast!

p.s. Horror movie sounds good too, nice way to cuddle 😉
