Keeping Warm

Brrr! It’s getting cold out there. I hope you all had a great weekend. I spent some of mine bundled up at home, and wanted to share some of my favorite ways of staying warm, along with a big pot of tea.

Throws. My final Missoni order item, this thick cozy blanket, finally shipped and arrived at our house. This blanket was probably one of the most in demand items and it was going on eBay for around $200+ at the height of the craze! Target had restocked online in all colors as of Sunday night, so if you’re interested, check out the website.

Cozy slippers. My favorite slippers that were a gift from a friend when I visited Moscow. These are exactly my foot size (they make full and half sizes of slippers) so they fit perfectly! Russians aren’t kidding around about anything warm – everything I tried on there –  hats, outerwear, boots – were all designed to keep the cold firmly out.

Scarves. A snapshot of some of the more colorful and printed scarves in my collection that were in my apartment. Scarves are like lip balm to me – I must never be without one nearby so I have some in my car, at my parent’s house, in my husband’s car – everywhere! So easy to throw on when the temperature drops or when you need something cozy in a movie theatre.

What are some of your favorite ways of keeping warm?

Oh wow, I can't believe that you just got your blanket, crazy. I tried to placed an order the day of the release and the site crashed right before I was going to put my credit card info. It's gorgeous though so it was worth the wait.

The blanket is fantastic. I already have a large wool throw (that my BF hates because it's itchy) and a few blankets so I'll pass on the Missoni one. I feel you on scarves – they have to be wool or cashmere (or blend thereof) and they have to be plentiful. I own maybe 15 scarves and the collection is growing.

And most importantly: TEA! Hot tea on a cold night is the meaning of happiness.

I'm in love with your cozy slippers! So amazing that you got them in Moscow. And that blanket was my favorite item in the Missoni for Target line. I'm glad to hear it's back in stock.

That Missoni for Target throw is amazing! I wish Target shipped to Canada. 🙁

I just bought a throw yesterday – actually, it's more like a blanket because it's padded but one side is fuzzy and the other cotton. Soooo warm and comfy. But what I really want is a Snuggie. Partially because it's so ridiculous looking. Hehe.

Russians are definitely not kidding around about anything warm, but can you blame us?! It's freezing for so much of the year!

Hahaha I giggled at the bit about the Russians. It's so weird hearing about the freezing weather because it's the middle of summer here in Australia! those scarves are absolutely gorgeous though 🙂

I love warm wool socks to wear around the house. I just layer on huge sweaters. I love the ones that remind me of blankets.

Great scarf collection, they have become a staple in my wardrobe now that the days are getting so cold. My favorite 'keep warm' item is my La Senza big, fuzzy house coat 🙂

I really need to buy a pair of warm and good quality slippers since my basement apartment is freezing. My pair right now are so ratty and old that… well, I just want a pair like yours. 🙂

I didn't realize the blanket was back in stock bough I noticed a lot of stuff came back this weekend.

Random note- I was looking at a Missoni for target item on ebay and it had your picture! The seller took it down later but it was weird!

Thanks for the Missoni tip. I ordered 2 throws, ballet flats, and a square ottoman on Monday late at night and I already received my items except for the ottoman! I'm not even close to state where it was shipped from. The throws are a lot softer than I expected. A major plus! I may have to return the ballet flats as the soles seem so thin and cheap they wouldn't last a day of walking.

Love your blog! Scarves really do add a nice touch to any outfit.
