Life

Deep Breath!

Sale PSA: A very cute twist t-shirt from Zella, now 50% off, a fluffy yarn (windproof!!) hoodie from Uniqlo, now $40, a J.Crew short sleeve cashmere leopard sweater, now $51 with code 25HOURS, and pretty thong sandals (I love mine) from Everlane, now $62.

Oh man! I wanted to write a different post for today but just can’t. I have fully given myself over to election stress/freaking out/hopeful praying and that’s all I’ll likely be doing for today, tomorrow and the rest of the week. I can’t believe the next post I write will be after the US election. For my international readers, sorry that this post is so short and so specific…. but tomorrow is Election Day in the US and our long journey will be coming to some sort of conclusion. I hope. And I’m sorry for how our messed up politics may have impacted your life in your countries.

I have really loved engaging with you guys on this topic. It has been such a privilege. Even for those who don’t agree with my position…thanks for being honest and engaging in the conversation. I hope you understand why I feel the way I do. I have spent the last four years trying to understand why you feel the way you do.

I love living in America, in California (Yay Area), and hope I can stay here for the rest of my life. I want to feel proud of our country and our leadership.

I think that’s all I can say on that for today.

Some distraction suggestions:

For those who need something to keep their minds busy, even if it arrives after the election, I am doing this Ravensburger right now! It is hard and so soothing. I also love the picture.

Also, another distraction activity – these Lego Art builds. I like this Marilyn Monroe/Warhol one. Lego even describes it in the catalog (my children treasure this catalog) as “great for stress”. Clearly they know.

Finally, for anyone who hasn’t read them already and wants to lose themselves in one of the greatest book series ever written – the A Song of Fire and Ice series from George RR Martin. If you haven’t read these already I am honestly jealous!! PS: GRRM himself said that Trump is Joffrey.

See you all on the other side of Tuesday.

I am beside myself with worry. I won’t elaborate…you know what I am feeling.

I watched not one second of Game of Thrones…not interested. So I think the books aren’t for me. I read the first 4 Harry Potter books… haven’t seen the movies. Read the first Twilight book…no movies. My son and his family (wife, my grandchildren) are into all of it, but I am not even tempted. Don’t know why…

I cannot even express myself I am just sick with worry about the election. That so many people support hate and divisiveness is beyond comprehension. And the pandemic! I support you 1110% – here’s hoping we make it through this.

Think BLUE!!! I share your anxiety… whatever happens, we MUST move forward and heal the divisions and racism in our country. And apologies to those in other countries who shake their heads in despair at our current situation.

Puzzling has been a huge activity with my kids in 2020. We’ve worked our way up to 1,000 pieces. My 5 year old helps sort the pieces and put the frame together, and my 8 year old is so patient with putting together the portions that are monochromatic such as the sky or water. She is a pro now with some of the puzzles. It’s been a bonding activity for us.

Constant. Stomach ache. Wish I was optimistic that the tide will turn and we can be on the road to a better country I can be proud of. Right now, though, just feel anxiety about what happens after the election. People are So amped up….

Was working as poll worker for the last five days of the election, being helpful REALLY helped with my own anxiety over this process.

Ahhh Kat, you know I feel as you do. I am trying so hard to understand how anyone can ally with hatred. I LOVE the Lego art…..might move on to that. I’m taking machine learning courses online…it is distracting but maybe not relaxing! BREATHE <3
