I love red coats. I always stop to admire them on shop racks in the fall/winter season, and I think they look wonderful against blacks and grays (amongst many other colors). Since I have lots of neutrals in my wardrobe, I love having a coat add a pop of color.

One of my favorite trenches is this Sportmax red trench which I bought in 2009. The cut and the flared bottom all spoke to me and I committed the sin of purchasing this jacket at full price. I especially love the silk lining even though it’s only me that sees it!

Red MaxMara

Sportmax coat (love this classic version)
Zara top (great version here)
Zara skirt (similar)
Van Cleef necklace (similar under $200)
Hermes Bolide bag (gorgeous version, under $500 here)
Louboutin heels

Another great perk of red coats is that they can still be worn well through spring and even summer – so really they are year round. I have a great weakness for coats and really need to stop buying them (though I just added another brightly colored one, which I hope to share with you soon). It’s been unseasonably cold here!

Hello! I am so happy that some of you found my 5 Questionspost yesterday helpful, especially since I’ve been trying hard to stick to those rules myself. It’s been a challenge but I haven’t been too naughty this holiday sale season (well… we’ll see what the mailman brings). Yesterday I wore some boots that I bought last year which deserve to see sunlight more!

Sportmax trench (similar here and here)

J.Crew tunic (on sale here)

Free people slip (on sale here, similar here)

Jimmy Choo boots (in brown here, under $200 here!)

Hermes bag

For some reason I generally find wearing knee high boots fussy, ankle boots are much easier. These are really comfortable though and I find the tan suede material makes them less severe than a darker color. Are you all knee high boot fans, or do you prefer shorter lengths?

I found this old Y & Kei top from a long time ago the other day (I think 05 or 06?) while digging through a bunch of clothes at my mom’s house. It makes me happy to rediscover clothes from a long time ago, especially if I can still wear them out in public without shame (the same cannot be said about all those old Abercrombie tiered mini skirts that I found. You all know what I’m talking about!)

Y & Kei blouse (similar here)
Sportmax jacket (similar here at great price)
BDG jeans (similar here, here)
Louboutin pumps (similar Loubs here, more affordable option here)
Balenciaga bag (here)

In other random news, yesterday I watched the film “Goodbye, Lenin” which I’d recommend to everybody. It’s a foreign film about a boy whose mother goes into a coma right before the fall of the Berlin Wall (they live in East Germany). She wakes up after the Wall has come down, but to prevent shock to her heart, he decides to try to make as if they are still living in a Communist society. Really quite funny, touching and shows how life was in a Europe that no longer exists. Highly recommended!

I also did laundry yesterday and managed to dye an entire load of whites pink, due to a red Louboutin dust bag that accidentally got caught in the laundry load. A photo of the carnage here – one of my husband’s favorite white shirts:

I already ordered him a few replacements with the current J.Crew promotion. Please learn from my lessons people: always double check the washing machine load!

Have you ever had any major laundry catastrophes?
