Recent Additions – June 2020

Sale PSA: Simple espadrilles from Born, now just $27 (!), peach sunglasses from Chloe, now 50% off, an organic cotton jersey shirt from Eileen Fisher, now 30% off, and a long linen coat from Madewell, now under $100 with code REALDEAL.

Today, sharing some recent purchases with you – as I said, I’ve been shopping (and returning, as I’ve had many failures). Here are some of the items I’ve picked up lately – would love to hear yours!

First is this Everlane tank, which I am pleased with. Maybe because I’ve been looking for a tank like this for ages! It is a super soft cotton, the perfect length (just hitting the hip, and easy to tuck in), and with a slight scoop neck where you can adjust the depth with the buttons. I ventured “out” of my normal neutrals zone by getting this chartreuse color and I like it but now I’m thinking I should have gotten black. I always think this about black.

Next is this Ulla Johnson dress, now on sale for 50% off, which I just posted about in the last weekend update. I said I would review this and so here we are! This is one of those rare bohemian styles that works on more petite girls. I love boho florals so really like this dress HOWEVER I will say it is less favored by my husband. I also can’t figure out if it makes me look short. Its all cotton, lined in the skirt, with some great tassel details.

This classic Ralph Lauren hat. The little polo horse brings up memories of high school. And I wear a baseball hat multiple times a day – they are my hat of choice for comfort, though I often wear wide brimmed if we’re going on a walk, to protect my neck. Finally ordered as it is 30% off for Friends/Family.

On the kid’s end, this picture encyclopedia. This book is amazing! There are SO many facts and the kids find every single page fascinating. I’m in awe of these DK books. The one “bad” thing is that these require a high amount of parent participation. Oh and I’m always afraid one is going to drop theirs on another’s foot.

And then, finally, also for the kids, these cotton masks. I’ll update on how they work out! I’ve made several kid mask orders and none have been perfect – I want a few for each kid so I always have them ready to go in the car, in my bag, when we’re out and about. It’s hard to find the “toddler” size.

To that end: if you have kid (or adult) mask recs, please share!

First time comment. If you can get them shipped from NZ, these face masks are made with merino: https://m.untouchedworld.com/ecoprotect/shop-ecoprotect-masks/UWM005-UW-NZ/merino-pleat-mask.html

These masks fit my daughter (and myself!) great and they’re made using Liberty of London fabric which is super cute/soft.

Personally, for the kids, I ordered masks from protect styles. Most comfortable ear loops that are adjustable but not cotton. For adults, the ultra lightweight air mask made of bamboo by olive and splash is what I wear all day at work.

I think you should stop recommending Everlane, at least while this is going on!

Kat, totally unrelated to this post but I’ve lost your email address so I can’t contact you directly.
I value your opinion on all things Chanel (and Hermes, of course!) – any thoughts about the Crumbled Crave Flap Bag (jumbo)? It was popular in 2013/14, I believe. I’ve the opportunity to grab one in excellent condition, in the beige color (although it’s actually a taupe color!). Any input you can share will be greatly appreciated.

I just looked at it! I think it looks like a great casual bag that is likely much easier to wear than the classic flap. If it’s at a good price, I’m a fan!

Hi Kat! For adults, I like the Atoms masks. They run a little big but the small works for me. Light, comfortable, anti-microbial lining. I wish they would make them for kids!

Hi! I just read the shared article above about Everlane. I find it disturbing and saddening. So much racism and these companies just don’t get it. What are your thoughts? Will you continue to support Everlane?

It is concerning and I am taking a break! That said there are so many brands that are kind of problematic (sadly) so I have to think in general how I approach things – tbh I haven’t had time to fully consider so that is why I’ve just been on Etsy..thank you for reading!
