Hi! I hope you had a great weekend. Some random chatter from the last few weeks (months)?

First up, as it has been for the last year and a half (ugh):

Covid: Oh man! I’m sure many of you are as bummed as I am with the Delta news…I have been alternating between “I give up” mode and hypochondriac mode. It’s staggering to remember (as I do, multiple times a day) that we are heading into year two of this and it will likely last into 2022. We are also hearing in our own circle of quite a few Covid cases, all of fully vaccinated adults. I think it’s only a matter of time before we are exposed…of course probably we have been already, unknowingly. I just don’t know what I’m supposed to think now about things like school, birthday parties, travel, etc. Right now we are being very cautious, again.

Because of all this, I am..

Shopping: A lot more. A lot of stress shopping! I have been trying not to purchase clothes but instead things for the home that are useful and will have longer term utility. Recent purchases include this shoe rack, to tuck into a corner for some of our sneakers, as well as some linen placemats. My placemats are super ratty and instead of getting some more vinyl ones I decided to try these out!

On the clothes front however, I did recently look at my closet at the sea of neutrals and for some reason all the blacks and whites and khakis kind of annoyed me. Why don’t I have more color?

Balance: I’ve been really bad at screen time lately. I feel like I’m always staring at something on my laptop, and phone, when I could just be doing something else (like…reading a book!). I also have been sleeping later lately, which is wreaking havoc because I pretty much have the same wakeup time every morning due to the kids. Just sliding back into some bad old habits. Anyway. At least I got this cool 3000 piece Ravensburger puzzle, above, which really interested my son due to its Volkswagon theme, and so we completed it together. It really made me appreciate the beauty of VW Camper Vans! At one point I had a slightly crazy moment where I was browsing used ones on the internet. One of the rare times I’m sure my husband would prefer I buy an expensive handbag instead!

Anyway. How are you all doing?

Love the slippers! I ordered the grey pair a few weeks ago – sadly, they’ve not yet been shipped.
Wishing you and your family continued good health in the time of COVID-19.

Ahhh I feel you on the stress shopping!! I feel like if shopping should reduce my anxiety but it’s not helping! I’m a teacher and taught online last year but will be in person this year. I’m incredibly nervous – I have a toddler and am hoping to be pregnant with baby #2 soon. I’m hoping more Americans will get vaccinated s d we can put this behind us, but I’m not so sure it will happen.

Kat, i feel exactly the same way. I am exhausted. I truly don’t understand the anti-vaccination people at all. 🙁

    Neat puzzle!

Also, do you use a lot of Sisley? If so I’d love your thoughts. I can’t figure out if the skincare line works for me or not. The haircare is an absolute dream, though

Ugh, I can’t with the Delta variant. I legitimately had a breakdown a week ago where I was just like “what’s the point of anything anymore??” Super dramatic, I know, but I feel a degree of some of this every single day. It’s demoralizing to say the least. Just have to take it one day at a time, and try to rein back on the doom scrolling!
