Sale PSA: Fisherman sandals from The Row, now 50% off (oh God am I tempted by these), pretty sandals from Loeffer Randall, now $260, adorable gum sole penny loafers from Everlane, now $120, and a draped dress from Acne, now 60% off.

Hi! As some of you know from Instagram, I got back from Japan a few days ago…am quite jet-lagged but will do some posts on the trip starting soon! I have found people have so many questions about traveling to Japan with kids and I have answers I want to write down while they are fresh in my mind and share with you all. But, in the interim, I’m going to share my holiday wishlist this year. I started this post a few weeks back and got distracted with travels – I meant to put it up before the sale season started (which I’ve been shopping quite a lot).

This year, I wanted to identify categories of item I wanted (ie, black boots), versus specific items – I thought this would help me more with figuring out what was actually missing from my wardrobe. So if I really liked say, a silver bag from Bottega (per below), I tried to ask myself well do I like it because of it’s design? Or it’s color? Does it actually fill a hole in the wardrobe? If yes, then I tried to extrapolate what about that item filled the hole in my wardrobe and brought it back to a general category. I hope that makes sense…here we go!

So, the first item: a fun metallic bag. On the pricey end I am looking at a Bottega silver cassette bag – it’s somewhat impractical but I just like it so much. And it’s what sparked my desire for a metallic bag in the first place, which I think will add dimension. On the less(ish) pricey I like this Issey Miyake bag, or even just a simple fun Baggu! Baggu did a plain version of these silver happy face totes which I’m now regretting now having picked up last year.

Patent boots. So far these (above) from By Far are my favorite. I’ve been finding it hard to find patent boots with lower, walkable heels, so if you know of any, please do share!

Travel jewelry box. I’ve been looking at these from Monica Vinader and from Cuyana, although I’d really like a fun trinket case from Smythson.

Oversized blazer/coat. To layer over big sweaters. The one above is from APC (and on sale, and done in collaboration with Jane Birkin…wow!) and the only thing I’m apprehensive about is I’m not sure if it is big enough. I do like the slightly wider shoulders but would prefer a true drop. Madewell has a less expensive version but I’d want a different color.

Blue sunglasses. This is a random want but it’s what my heart wants and so it’s on my list! I like these from Lexxola. The frames are technically black but the whole effect makes the glasses look kind of navy in my opinion.

What pieces are on your holiday wishlists?

The classic YSL WOC. And one can never have enough Hermes scarves. To confess, they *were* on my holiday list … I was lucky enough to make it to Paris a few weeks ago. With the euro down, it’s a fabulous time to be shopping for luxury goods.

Just bought an oversized Toteme coat that is really well priced and fits over blazers. Question on the travel jewelry case – do you ever feel like traveling with more than the jewelry you have on is too risky? I have been doing more changing out my jewelry and using it as accessories when I’m home, but I’m still leery of carrying anything stealable when I’m traveling.

Ooh which coat? It’s a good question, I try to basically travel with what I would wear on a given day + a little extra which I can change out as needed. I will often leave some in the safe (Depending on where I’m traveling…in Japan for example I felt really safe).

I have the BaoBao Issey Miyake bag and has been worn to death since I got it..The styles of the metallic bags you’ve chosen are all different so I guess it depends on your current preference in using totes vs shoulder bags.

I caved in and bought the fisherman sandals – it’s just so hard to resist The Row on sale and I’ve been wanting a pair forever! I have the Bottega cassette bag in black and it’s very convenient as a crossbody. They did the cassette recently in an amazing dark silver metallic color “anchor” that’s on Fashionphile right now that I am seriously trying to justify. Bottega always does metallics so well (I’m a longtime fan from the Thomas Maier days).
