The Hermes Evelyne TPM

This is a bag that has been on my list for a while. Actually it’s been on my want list longer than the mini Bolide, but arrived in the store after, which is my paltry way of explaining how I ended up with two mini black bags with gold hardware in a short period of time. When I got the message from the boutique I thought about saying no, but it was so painful that I decided that I could not…I should at least visit it. And of course, once I did, I brought the bag immediately home.

In short, my conclusions: why didn’t I get this bag earlier?? I love it! My biggest concern with the TPM was always the length of the strap – since I’m short (5’1), some bags are just way too long for me to do crossbody with, like the Chanel WOC. For some reason, I thought this was going to be the case with the TPM. I think maybe I had seen some photos? But anyway, it is fine!

In a perfect world, maybe I’d want the strap an inch shorter. I think because the bag is black, it doesn’t bug me as much that the strap is a tiny bit long – not as jarring of an effect that it’d be with a super bright color (but that wouldn’t stop me from getting one in the future, anyway). If you’re 5’4-5’6, I think this bag would be the perfect length for crossbody.

The canvas strap is so comfortable. It’s the perfect width, no hardware to make it heavy (my chief beef with the Evelyne 3 PM) and very light. And, I have to admit that one thought I had after I bought the TPM was that I could use the strap on the mini Bolide when I wanted another option! And apparently, according to the store manager, I’m far from the first woman who has had this thought! Given that extra straps at Hermes are over $1K now and the Evelyne TPM is $1800….well.

And, the bag fits quite a bit for its size – everything above, plus keys (I am going through a lip balm addiction). It’s the perfect “mommy running around and stick in a large diaper bag/backpack” option, and with black, I don’t worry about stains. Plus my TPM is clemence, which I would recommend whole heartedly – it’s such a lovely feel and also the leather is more flexible, so you can stuff more in it. The other day, I had everything above and managed to stuff a large chocolate chip cookie (in its paper bag) inside, too!

I’ve been using this as a total kick around and so far it’s rested in a sandbox, on a park bench, tossed about my backpack nd shoved into an overhead bin and is in perfect condition. I don’t beat up my stuff by any means but I don’t treat them with kid gloves either. A fantastic bag from Hermes, one of the better priced items from the brand, that I’d recommend whole heartedly to anybody looking for a mini bag.

Congratulations! I have two Evelyn tpms, both in Clemence (Indigo & Rouge Casaque). The strap length is fine for me though my SA suggested a Maxitwilly or Twilly as an alternative. Maybe that might help if you like the look. It is a great, lovable mini. I hope you have much wear & enjoyment from yours!!

Congratulations! I love Evelynes and I recently added two TPMs. I love them. The larger Evelynes started hurting my back, as do my big work/mom totebags. So the TPM size is just right for running around with my kids and it’s also nice for dinner out. I also like it when I travel because I can wear it under my jacket and keep things safe. Enjoy it in good health!

So I’ve been eyeing an evelyne forever, but feel like it would drive me crazy that the top doesn’t close completely. What has your experience been? I guess if one doesn’t put small things in it they won’t fall out…

Nothing has fallen out! Especially in clemence, the bag kind of molds to the body too so the stuff stays quite secure. There is also a little clasp that can go over the top but honestly I have never used it on any of my evelynes.

Thanks to both you and B for your kind comments and my only secret is that I have to feed two children now at mealtimes so am generally very busy which forces me to consume my own food more slowly. That and I eat a lot of their rejected food which is also quite unappetizing.

Haha, this is so true eating with young kids! I either wolf down as quickly as I could while my husband deal with the kids, or wait till they are all done and ear the leftovers. And LOVE your mini Evelyn! I had one years ago and found it too small to use when I go out. Now with kids, I love it to carry essentials so I don’t have to fish them out of my tote bag which is full of kids’ stuff.

I do not know even know where to beginning. Let me just say simply I have been eyeing the TPM for 2 years. I was heartbroken at first when I heard it was discontinued. Then upon further digging, I discovered that it was just a hard to locate piece but it was still in production. I am hoping with a Hermes boutique opening in Orlando in 2019, I will be able to purchase one. Your post is right on time and sealed it for me about it being a fully functional piece especially when working with a toddler lol!

Dee! Stalk the H site. I’ve seen them pop up. You can bookmark this link and check back OR (I recommend this) search for “Evelyne” and refresh throughout the day. It’s kind of crazy but it works.

Don’t give up! It’s a popular item but just keep asking. Sometimes there were none when I asked, and sometimes there was a choice of several! Also check online often. It’s a great bag 🙂

I have four mini Evelyne. And have the strap all shortened to 95cm to fit my frame. May be the store can tell you where in the US Hermès offers this service.

K— why must these posts be so well written and tempting!! I’ve been waffling on the TPM, mainly because I’m a little insulted at no pockets. Samorga do a little organizer, but in addition to being easily annoyed, I’m impatient!
So, what to do. I bought a madewell small transport crossbody, which is eerily similar in size and execution, but with a front slip pocket and zipper. https://www.madewell.com/the-small-transport-crossbody-G8078.html

Also I was able to hotstamp it, and not grovel (my local boutique requires the latter as part of the TPM process). Haven’t received it yet, but excited for the tophandle possibilities.

Please do show us your diaper bag also!

For those interested in pre-owned, Evelyne TPMs are all over sites like Yoogi’s Closet and Fashionphile. Many of them are in “new” condition. I’m not in the market for one, but there are some beautifully tempting colors that are making me think twice….

My fave H bag!!! I find Epsom to be lighter weight than Clemence. I use mine all the time and it is the one H bag I reach out for anytime without hesitation! I don’t have to worry about it getting it knocked up or getting stains. I agree re: the Evelyne 3 PM, it’s way too heavy for cross body especially after you load it up – my upper back & shoulders hurt 🙁

Ooh. If I could choose one I’d do the Halzan because it has more ways to wear it. This is a HARD question though.

I have TPM in Epsom Black and love it so much. I’m with two little ones so really need my both hands available!!! I always liked small bags and now even more. Currently eyeing on Hermes Silky City (i saw one at Hermes boutique in Tokyo airport. it was so cute) and Clic16 wallet with strap. Do you have any thoughts on these two bags?
